The Information and Communications Technology Unit spearheads the installation of sector antenna at the Provincial Capitol Building rooftop that will connect offsite offices on May 17, 2019 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU) equipped the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) with a more advanced ICT resources as they installed, tested and cascaded a faster internet capacity to all offices of Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) on May 17, 2019.

With the help of a third party provider, PLDT Inc., the previous backbone utilizing Cat6e copper cable rated at 1Gbps which was very susceptible to failure due to its structure was replaced with Fiber Optic cable rated at 10Gbps network speed.

Additional servers and Network Attached Storage (NAS) for proper data storages and repository were also procured. All servers and storages shall be virtualized or software-based. The project shall sustain a scalable, manageable and high uptime for all ICT services. It will also improve basic service delivery through efficient and faster network infrastructure as well as improved Wi-Fi capabilities and real-time interconnectivity even to offsite PGLU offices.

The ICTU aims to plan additional infrastructure that will support the attainment of the vision of the province which is “Better and Resilient ICT Resources Equal to Innovative and High-Level Service Delivery.”
