Hundred Local Artists join GAMENG Artist Development Training-Workshop

Dedicated to promote and elevate local arts and culture in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO), partnered with the La Union Creative Industries Association (LUCIA) in conducting GAMENG Artist Development Training-Workshop on October 28, 2023 at Hotel Ariana, Bauang, La Union.

Said training-workshop was participated in by a hundred local artists and registered LUCIA members. Topics discussed included Cultural Identity and Integration to Arts; Production Management; Creative Process; and Sarita, Bitla, ken Daniw or SARIBITNIW discussed by LUCIA Officers namely Engr. Dexter Macaso, Mr. Vernon Albert Cabading, Mr. Darryl Arthus Casugay, and Ms. Djuna Alcantara, respectively.

Creative Process workshop revolved around cultivating the creative process among artists. Mr. Casugay discussed various techniques and methodologies aimed at fostering the creative talents of participants, encouraging them to explore and push the boundaries of their artistic expression.

Engr. Macaso emphasized the significance of preserving and incorporating La Union's rich cultural identity into arts during the Cultural Identity and Integration to Arts workshop. On the other hand, Mr. Cabading, speaker on the Effective Production Management, provided insights and skills in organizing and managing artistic productions, ensuring a seamless transition from idea to finished product.

The core of the training-workshop was the exploration of SARIBITNIW – an acronym encompassing Sarita or short story writing and reading; Bitla or Public Speaking; and Daniw or written and spoken poetry. These components, taught by Ms. Alcantara, encapsulates different forms of interpretation, encouraging artists to draw inspiration from multiple sources.

Participants also had the opportunity to connect with fellow artists, share experiences, and build a supportive network within the La Union creative community.

The GAMENG Artist Development Training-Workshop stands as a testament to La Union's commitment in fostering a thriving creative community. By empowering local artists, the province takes a significant stride towards becoming a hub for artistic innovation and expression.
