Prior to her State of the Province Address, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David led the inauguration of the P280 Million La Union Convention Center at Brgy. Sevilla, City of San Fernando on August 7, 2023.

The project was funded by the Department of Public Works and Highways through the National Building Program.

The three-storey Multi-Purpose building has a total floor area of 2,000 square meters that can accommodate up to 1,500 people. It also features a unique architectural and aesthetic design inspired by a surfboard, one of La Union’s icons, being a surfing destination in the North.

Expected to boost economic growth and the tourism sector of the province, the development of the Convention Center will provide an excellent venue for special events and large gatherings such as trainings, meetings, seminars, exhibits, conventions, and tradeshows that will not only cater to locals but also attract visitors from different parts of the country.

The construction of the infrastructure project began in the year 2015 during the term of then First District Representative Hon. Victor Francisco Ortega, who was the brainchild of the project, and succeeded by Former First District Representative Hon. Pablo Ortega until its completion this year under First District Representative Hon. Francisco Paolo Ortega V.

The said project reflects the collaborative effort of the Provincial Government of La Union, National Government Agencies, and stakeholders to amplify its commitment to enhance infrastructure developments and sustainable economy in the province.

Vice Governor Mario Eduardo Ortega, First District Representative Hon. Francisco Paolo Ortega V, Second District Representative Hon. Dante Garcia, Provincial, City, and Municipal Officials, Department of Public Works and Highways Region 1 Director Ronnel Tan, La Union First District Engineer De Jose Ginete, Jr., Department Heads, program beneficiaries and other dignitaries exhibited the spirit of La Union PROBINSYAnihan as they witnessed and graced the momentous occasion.

The Provincial Government of La Union led by Gov. Rafy continues to give priority on sustainable and inclusive development in the province through establishment of more infrastructure projects that will transform La Union’s economic landscape- a vital key in improving the lives of Kaprobinsiaan and in positioning La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
