Gov. Rafy to Senior Citizens: You are all Legends; PGLU Honors 10 Outstanding Senior Citizens in La Union

In celebration of the Filipino Elderly Week, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) conferred 10 kaprobinsiaan senior citizens who have made invaluable contributions to their communities and the province as a whole.

In a ceremony dubbed as, "Sampung Natatanging Nakakatanda ng La Union Award" held on October 6, 2023 at DMMMSU-NLUC International Convention Center, Bacnotan, La Union, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David, personally handed the plaque of recognition to the senior citizens and applauded them for being the "legends".

In her message, Gov. Rafy further underscored the valuable wisdom, experience, and unwavering dedication these senior citizens have brought to their respective communities and the entire province of La Union. She likewise expressed her deep respect for the elderly and called them an inspiration for all, encouraging them to continue working with the province to uplift their sector.

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of the oldest awardee, Mrs. Primitiva Concepcion, of Balaoan, La Union who at the age of 93, was awarded the prestigious title of National Awardee. Her remarkable journey and contributions to the community served as an inspiration to everyone present.

The successful “Sampung Natatanging Nakakatanda” were Robert B. Madarang, Jr. of Burgos; Alicia A. La Torre of Bacnotan; Erlinda Q. Casuga of City of San Fernando; Magdalena B. Bacagan of Santol; Visitacion M. Piaoan of Sudipen; Isidro A. Ancheta, Jr. of San Juan; Lorenzo D. Agustin of Bauang; Lucila C. Garcia of Luna; Primitiva O. Concepcion of Balaoan; and Eusebio L. Navalta of Bangar.

Vice Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega was also present during the said event to give support and congratulate the elderly awardees.

After the awarding ceremony, the elders competed in Ballroom Dancing, Vocal Solo, and Group Singing.

The Sampung Natatanging Nakakatanda event was not only a celebration of these outstanding seniors but also a reminder of the importance of honoring and cherishing the wisdom and contributions of the elderly. As La Union continues to progress and develop, the active support of these legends in the province's call for La Union PROBINSYAnihan will undoubtedly continue to inspire the generations to come.
