The Provincial Government of La Union began distribution of relief goods to each household in the province on March 24, amidst the Enhanced Community Quarantine due to #COVID19. Gov. Pacoy said there are about 186,000 households in the province, each of them will receive a food pack.

Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III has assured that all households in the Province of La Union will each receive a pack of relief goods to help families in the midst of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon as the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic persists.

Gov. Pacoy made the remark on March 24, 2020 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union, as he convened the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) Core Team Against COVID-19 to assess the ongoing PGLU operations in view of the global health crisis.

There are about 180,000 households in the province and each of them will receive their relief packs in the coming days, Gov. Pacoy said.

The PGLU started distribution of goods in Caba, where the first two confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 have been recorded. 5,913 relief packs were given out in Caba households on March 24-25, 2020.

Each relief pack contains rice, coffee packs, and canned goods.

Gov. Pacoy said the goods serve to augment the relief operations which are already underway in the 20 component Local Government Units (LGUs) in the province.

Gov. Pacoy appealed to every kaprobinsiaan to be disciplined and cooperative during the distribution of the goods.

To maintain social distancing, the PGLU personnel delivers the relief goods by dropping them at the gate or any conspicuous area in each residence.

In Caba, for example, each household placed a chair in their front yards which “received” the delivered relief pack.
“This way, we lessen person-to-person contact. But we also need the utmost cooperation of the residents, that they only get the relief packs intended for their families,” Gov. Pacoy said.

LGU and barangay officials will also be tapped to ensure the orderly distribution of goods.
