Highlighting La Union’s commitment in raising the standards of tourism support facilities as part of its Agri-Tourism vision, the La Union Multi-Sectoral Governance Council (MSGC), in partnership with the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), headed by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, conducted evaluation for the Clean and Green Gasoline Station Restroom Award.

Acknowledging La Union’s role as a tourist destination and a major stopover for travelers heading to the Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region, the MSGC focused on promoting clean, sustainable, and tourist-friendly amenities, leaving a favorable impression among tourists.

Two teams of evaluators assessed gasoline stations across La Union’s first and second districts. MSGC Chairperson Rev. Brennus H. Paragas; Mr. Wally Abuan from the MSGC Media sector; Mr. Jerome C. Orate, and Ms. Gewel Kate Supsup from the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, conducted a site visit to Centrum Gas Station in Central East 2, Bangar, Centrum Fuel Northern Luzon in Ili Norte, San Juan, as well as Caba.

In the other group, Mrs. Loreta Cepriaso, the Head of the MSGC Advocacy and Communications Committee; Ms. Gemma Chan, Head of the MSGC Memberships Committee; and Ms. Nichole Justine Jacildone from the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator evaluated Uno Fuel Incorporated located in Rosario, Centrum Fuel Northern Luzon in Agoo, and two Centrum Gas Stations in Santo Tomas.

The evaluation followed stringent criteria set by the Provincial Health Office and local sanitary inspectors to ensure facilities met high standards of cleanliness, functionality, and environmental sustainability.

The winners were announced during the Tourism Summit. Uno Fuel Incorporated in Rosario earned the top spot followed by Centrum Fuel Northern Luzon in Agoo. Other recognized stations included Centrum Gas Station in Santo Tomas, and Centrum Fuel Northern Luzon in Agoo-San Jose Sur branch.

The awarding ceremony celebrated the commitment of these gasoline stations to delivering quality service and exceptional facilities. Representatives from the MSGC, including Mr. Xavier Mercado and Ms. Gemma Chan, presented the awards, emphasizing their importance in enhancing the tourism experience in La Union.

With the success of the Clean and Green Gasoline Station Restroom Award, the MSGC aims to launch more impactful projects in 2025, including the Community-Based Mental Health Program and the See La Union First campaign. These MSGC efforts, supported by Gov. Rafy, will further solidify La Union’s position as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon, fostering progress and sustainable growth.
