Representatives from the National Dairy Authority (NDA) and the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian held a productive meeting with Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David on June 22, 2023, at the Provincial Capitol. The focus of the meeting was the implementation of the Dairy Cattle Program with discussions centering around the provision of 50 dairy cattle to the municipalities of Bangar and Aringay.
For better implementation of the said program, the Provincial Government of La Union has committed to provide a total of 10 million pesos for the construction of a modern cattle shed, and an additional 2 million pesos for the installation of a solar water pump. The recipient municipalities of Bangar and Aringay have also pledged their support by providing a milk processing building, facilities, and a Farm to Market Road. These collaborative efforts aim to establish a robust dairy value chain and enhance income opportunities for local farmers.
Gov. Rafy expressed her optimism about the program's potential impact to the kaprobinsiaan from the said municipalities and to the province's agricultural landscape as a whole.
With the strong support of the government and stakeholders, La Union is poised to become a significant player in the dairy sector, fostering economic growth and prosperity for kaprobinsiaan - all aligned in the realization of the vision to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
