Enhancing the effectiveness of Barangay Peacekeeping and Action Teams (BPAT), the distribution of High-Visibility-Vests (Hi-Vest) has been successfully completed across the 576 barangays in province of La Union equipping 4,608 Barangay Tanods with essential gear to ensure their safety and protection while maintaining peace and order in their respective communities.
The Hi-Vest distribution program, implemented by the Provincial Government of La Union, led by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David, in collaboration with the Philippine National Police - La Union Police Provincial Office, recognizes the vital role played by Barangay Tanods in upholding security and ensuring the well-being of kaprobinsiaan. Tanods often perform their duties in challenging conditions, thus, provision of Hi-Vests will significantly enhance their visibility and safety while on duty.
To recall, Gov. Rafy personally distributed Hi-Vest in Rosario, La Union on April 2023. The distribution process, carried out over several week and was finally completed by the end of June 2023.
The Hi-Vests are designed with reflective materials, vibrant colors, and prominent markings, allowing for easy identification and visibility, especially during nighttime and low-light situations. This increased visibility will not only protect the Barangay Tanods from potential accidents but also serve as a deterrent to criminal elements, strengthening the overall security landscape of La Union.
As the Barangay Tanods proudly wear their newly acquired Hi-Vests from the PGLU and Gov. Rafy, they stand as a symbol of community resilience and unity as they become more committed to maintain peace and order through #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan - a vital component in attaining sustainable growth and the vision to position La Union to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
