CDH PROMOTES HYPERTENSION AWARENESS

COMBATING HYPERTENSION. Caba District Hospital (CDH’s) Nurse, Chenee Rose Manangan educates the patients and their watchers at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) waiting area regarding Hypertension, its prevention, causes, treatment and precautions during the information education campaign held at CDH, Caba, La Union on May 22, 2019. The said activity was in line with the observance of Hypertension Awareness Month.
In observance of the Hypertension Awareness Month, Caba District Hospital (CDH) conducted an Information Education Campaign regarding Hypertension the leading cause of preventable death worldwide, its prevention, causes, treatment and precautions during the information education campaign held at CDH, Caba, La Union on May 22, 2019.
Health Education Promotion Officer and Nurse Chenee Rose Manangan led this activity by imparting her knowledge regarding this preventable disease. She said that hypertension or high blood pressure remains to be a risk factor for a person to suffer a heart attack or stroke or to acquire other serious illnesses.
Ms. Manangan also informed the participants that hypertension can be hereditary and there are modifiable risk factors that are lifestyle-related. She advised that avoidance of smoking, having a low salt and low cholesterol diet, maintaining ideal body weight and having adequate exercise leads to good health.
OPD patients and their watchers participated in the said activity. A free blood pressure monitoring was also conducted among patients and CDH personnel.
Hypertension is a silent killer that shows no symptoms. CDH reminded the public on the importance of regular blood pressure monitoring. “When a hypertensive person is already feeling other symptoms, there is already a complication so regular blood pressure monitoring is very important,” Manangan said.
In observance of Hypertension awareness month, CDH also conducted a free blood pressure monitoring to the public and CDH personnel on May 9, 14 and 20, 2019 at the CDH OPD section.
CDH Information Education Campaign Program is a regular activity of the hospital which aims to promote awareness, emphasize that prevention is better than cure and to achieve the Governor’s Mission to be a Healthy La Union and Happy La Union by 2022.
