CDH Conducts Adolescent Health Program

Caba, La Union- Caba District Hospital (CDH), led by Dr. Gretchen F. Aromin, conducted an Adolescent Health and Youth Development Community Outreach Program at San Gregorio National High School (SGNHS), San Gregorio, Caba, La Union on December 11, 2018.
A total of 241 students from Grade 7-12 of SGNHS actively participated in various activities such as lectures on Adolescent Development and Anti-Smoking Advocacy; Mobile Blood Donation; Infection prevention and control; handwashing lecture and demonstration; Anti-Rabies awareness; Antimicrobial Stewardship; HIV Awareness; Violence Against Women and Children; and presentation of the CDH’s Infection prevention and control campaign jingle. It concluded with the signing of the Pledge of Support to CDH’s Anti-Smoking Brigade Advocacy and Anti-microbial Stewardship.
Dr. Gretchen F. Aromin gave an inspirational message to the youth and introduced the hospital’s Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program. She emphasized to them that as the future leaders of the community, they should be aware on the issues and challenges that the youth are facing today. She encouraged them to support the various programs of the hospital specifically the Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program to help the institution and the Province of La Union in achieving Gov. Pacoy's vision to become a Healthy and Happy La Union by 2022.
Highlights of the activity were the signing of the Pledge of Support to Anti-Smoking Brigade by the teachers of SGNHS, headed by their Officer-in-Charge Principal Mrs. Marian Castillones and the Pledge to promote the rational use of antimicrobials responsibly signed by the students.
CDH recognizes the vital role of all adolescents in the society now and in the future. Advocacy for their welfare includes physical, mental and social wellbeing, reproductive health rights awareness and provision of empowerment opportunities to prepare them to be productive member of the community.
