Gawad Pilak Award from LBP Conferred to PGLU

Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III receives the Gawad Pilak award from Ms. Ma Belma T. Turla of Land Bank of the Philippines on August 14, 2019 at the Diego Silang Hall, Capitol Building, City of San Fernando, La Union. Said award was given to the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) for its contrbutions in the successful implementation of Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) programs and services.

Revenue and Performance Assessment to the Municipal Treasury of Bauang Conducted

The Provincial Treasurer’s Office – Field Supervision Unit headed by Estrella A. Lagliva, with the assistance of Cash Receipts Unit head Regildo C. Sudiacal, conducts a Revenue and Performance Assessment to the Municipal Treasury of Bauang, La Union on August 14, 2019. The evaluation was undertaken to monitor and ensure proper Tax Compliance within the Municipality.

BLDH Takes Part in National Lung Month

Shane Pheunic Alagadan, Nurse 1 and coordinator of Tuberculosis-Directly Observed Treatment (TB-DOTS) Short Course, imparts information about tuberculosis disease at the Outpatient Department (OPD) of Balaoan District Hospital (BLDH), Balaoan, La Union on August 14, 2019. The said activity was conducted in observance of National Lung Month. Discussed were the causes of tuberculosis, its prevention, cure and rehabilitation.

CDH Conducts Spirometry, Anti-Smoking Lecture

SPIROMETRY AND ANTI-SMOKING CAMPAIGN. Dr. Guilvic Tirso Aspiras, Pulmonologist and La Union Medical Society President Dr. Tess Versoza conduct spirometry and lecture on the ill effects of cigarette smoking during a campaign held at Caba District Hospital, Caba La Union on August 14, 2019. A total of 25 patients benefited in the free spirometry test, free pulmonary consultation and smoking cessation counseling. Other partners and sponsors in the conduct of the activity were Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center, Rotary Club City of San Fernando, Philippine College of Occupational Medicine La Union Chapter, Orient Euro Pharma and Unilab Philippines.

PHO Launches Back to Bakuna Program

Midwives from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) administer the vaccination of around 152 learners in San Felipe Elementary School in San Juan, La Union, during the province’s launching of the Department of Health’s Back to Bakuna Program on August 13, 2019. A school-based immunization program, it targets a total of 460,369 school learners to be vaccinated in the province of La Union by September 2019.

BDH CONDUCTS SMILING SINK CONTEST

Each sink of the hospital was entered in the contest with the purpose of increasing awareness and understanding the importance of handwashing as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and advocate cleanliness in all sections of BDH.

Internal auditors of La Union Medical Center (LUMC) learn from Mr. Michael Manaloto of Macro Vision Consultancy as he discusses the Principles and Guidelines in Auditing with reference to ISO 19011:2018 and Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems during the Refresher Course on August 8-9, 2019 and Risk Management Training on August 10, 2019 at the Dr. Eufranio “Franny” C. Eriguel Memorial Hall, LUMC, Agoo, La Union. The activity was done in preparation for its Internal Audit scheduled on August 19, 20 & 23, 2019.

OPAg Conducts Perimeter Clearing Operation

Crops and Soils Unit staff Mr. Marlon Casuga and Mr. Emil Sobejana of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) perform perimeter clearing operation at the back slope portion of the OPAG compound, City of San Fernando, La Union on August 9, 2019. The activity aims to mitigate the gradual normal growth of shrubs this rainy season. All other concerned staff were assigned on other areas for the same purpose to combat possible breeding grounds of dengue- carrying mosquitoes.
