Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III spearheads the distribution of checks to indigent residents of La Union as part of the Provincial Government of La Union’s medical and burial assistance to their families on August 27, 2019 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. In said distribution activity, a total of 215 indigents received financial assistance.
BALBASAN MPA BENCHMARKING ACTIVITY. Over 40 individuals from the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU); Local Government Units of Balaoan, Bacnotan and San Juan; Department of Tourism; Department of Environment and Natural Resources; Academe; and Science of Identity Foundation (SIF) participate in the BALBASAN Marine Protected Area (MPA) Benchmarking Activity on August 19-23, 2019 in the BatMAN MPA Network in the Province of Batangas, the home of the multi-awarded Marine Protected Area and Bantay Dagat Network. Balaoan, Bacnotan and San Juan (BALBASAN), the first MPA network in Region 1 was created thru Memorandum of Agreement in 2017. Benchmarking is a part of the BALBASAN Action Plan which aimed to capacitate members by providing valuable opportunity to learn thru actual observation.

Ortega III administers the oath of the newly-elected officers of the Information Officers of La Union Guild (IOLUG) on August 23, 2019 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando La Union. Aimed to strengthen public information services in the 20 component local government units in La Union, the IOLUG will be steered by the officers namely Agoo’s Sunshine Dela Cruz as President; Balaoan’s Mae Gracielle Oblero as Vice President; San Gabriel’s Daryl Dacumos as Secretary; Caba’s Sushine Maglaya as Treasurer; Naguilian’s Nasser Dugasan as Auditor; Pugo’s Bryan Bangyay as Public Relations Officer; Luna’s Tito Gorospe as First District Representative; and Santo Tomas’ Roel Lachica as Second District Representative.
Local Government Unit (LGU) of Aringay headed by Mayor Eric Sibuma and Balaoan LGU headed by Mayor Aleli Concepcion present their 10-year solid waste management plans to the technical working group of the National Solid Waste Management Commission on August 23, 2019 in Quezon City, Manila. Both LGUs received an approval of their plans.
BALAY SILANGAN. Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III leads the inauguration of the Balay Silangan Reformation Center in Caba, La Union on August 22, 2019. In his speech, Gov. Pacoy said the facility is symbolic of the province’s commitment to uphold peace and order through drug reformation and rehabilitation. The Balay Silangan is a joint project of the Municipal Government of Caba led by Mayor Philip Caesar Crispino and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency headed by Dir. Gen. Aaron Aquino.
