Food Packs Delivered to Pugo Households

Representatives from the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) deliver food packs to the doorstep of households in Pugo, La Union on March 30, 2020. A total of 4699 households from the municipality received their food packs. The PGLU continues the repacking of relief goods for all other Local Government Units.

PGLU Observes Strict Disinfection Procedures

In the strengthened campaign to combat COVID-19, strict disinfection procedures are now being observed at the Provincial Capitol Building, City of San Fernando, La Union. Individuals undergo shoe disinfection before entering the building, while government vehicles used in the province-wide surveillance are washed with disinfectant every after travel. Despite the work-from-home scheme, Provincial Government officials led by Gov. Pacoy continue to report to the Capitol for the daily assessment meeting of the province’s Anti COVID-19 operations.

PGLU Conducts Drainage Cleaning, Dredging

Provincial Engineering Office personnel conduct drainage cleaning and dredging along the streets of the central business district in San Fernando City, La Union on March 27, 2020. Due to the ongoing Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon, the usually busy thoroughfares of the capital city are now free of pedestrians and motorists, thus a good opportunity to declog waterways in time for the rainy season.

150 Cavans of Rice Arrives in Capitol for Repacking

150 cavans of 50-kilo rice arrive at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union on March 27, 2020, as repacking of relief goods for constituents continues amidst threat of COVID-19. Distribution of relief packs resumes on March 30, in Pugo. Other municipalities are on deck.

PGLU Readies First Batch of Anti-COVID19 Supplies for Distribution

The first batch of anti-COVID19 supplies of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) has been delivered on March 26, 2020 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. Composed of 100 50-ml bottles of sanitizers, 200 one-liter bottles of sanitizers, and 2,000 pieces of face masks, the supplies will be given to PGLU health workers, checkpoint frontliners, and other personnel rendering critical services in the COVID-19 operations. Other batches of supplies will be delivered until March 31, 2020.

PGLU Brings Home Stranded Kaprobinsiaan

HOME, FINALLY. Pursuant to section 5.2.7.2 of the DILG Memo Circular No. 2020-062, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Pacoy, with the assistance of Mayor Benjamin Magalong and City Councilor Francisco Roberto Ortega VI, bring home 80 La Union residents on March 25, 2020, who were stranded in Baguio City following the declaration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon by President Rodrigo Duterte on March 17, 2020.

The Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University headed by Dr. Jaime Manuel offered their two buses for free while PGLU covered the gasoline and the disinfection of the said buses.

All 80 passengers underwent disinfection procedures prior to boarding. Upon arrival, they will undergo the 14-day home quarantine protocol and were instructed to follow precautionary measures set by the Department of Health such as social distancing, wearing of masks, and proper setting aside of utensils at home, among others.

PGLU Opens Disinfection Water Generating Facility

The Provincial Government of La Union, led by Gov. Pacoy, opens its disinfection water generating facility on March 24, 2020 at the Mabanag Compound, City of San Fernando, La Union. Utilizing a Japanese Technology, this facility could produce up to 40,000 liters of disinfectant solution per day which will be used for the disinfection operations in the district hospitals, checkpoints, and PGLU offices. Later on, PGLU will also distribute to households and private establishments for maximum disinfection in the province amid COVID-19.

ICTU Assists in Emergency Operation Centers Activation

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Information and Communications Technology Unit, assists the different component Local Government Units (LGUs) of the province in the activation of their Emergency Operation Centers (EOCs) on March 22, 2020. The activity was in compliance with the PGLU Advisory No. 5 which encompasses the activation of Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council EOCs in La Union to ensure proper implementation of directives and measures issued by the National and Provincial Governments in coordination with the LGUs’ barangay officials to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
