To ensure public safety, Mayor Arturo Valdriz and Vice Mayor Mannix Ortega led the inspection of various accommodation establishments and restaurants in San Juan, La Union today, June 16, 2020.
The said monitoring assessed their compliance to Health & Safety Standards set by the government.
Joining the municipal officials are Mr. Adamor Dagang representing Gov Pacoy, Department of Tourism Region 1 Monitoring Team, and representatives of the Department of Trade and Industry Region 1.
The local inspection team is composed of staff from MDRRMO, PNP, BFP, Business Licensing Office, and Tourism Office.
To guarantee continued safety in the province, representatives from the Provincial Government of La Union monitors the checkpoints in the entry and exit points in the Second District of La Union on June 16, 2020.
Manning the checkpoints in Tubao, Rosario and Pugo boundaries were from the Provincial Health Office and Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Office, Philippine National Police, Philippine Army and Bureau of Fire Protection.
Observed in the monitoring were their compliance to checkpoint protocols and minimum public health standards.
On the 30th day of the province with zero new COVID-19 Positive Case, a male from Bliss Baraoas Sur, Naguilian, La Union tests positive on the virus. To ensure that the family of the patient are not affected, Naguilian District Hospital Contact Tracing Team conducted oropharyngeal / throat swabbing to them on June 15, 2020.

While the PGLU has already completed its second wave of relief operations in the entire province, it assures of continuing support to the constituents as it lays the path towards recovery from the pandemic.
HOME FOR GOOD. Another two wards at the Provincial Government of La Union’s ‘Home of Hope’ Isolation Facility were sent home after testing negative from COVID-19 on June 1, 2020. The wards are spouses from Mandaluyong City who traveled to La Union on May 24 but were held at the Rosario checkpoint after failing to present the necessary documentary requirements and hence their admission at the facility. The wife Lhea, a native of Sevilla, San Fernando City, is eight-month pregnant, while the Cebuano husband, Herbert, is a private employee. They decided to come home to La Union for good, where they plan to relocate as they embrace the ‘new normal.’
