PGLU donates PPEs, disinfection supplies to LGU Agoo

ENABLING THE LGUs. The Provincial Government of La Union is resolute in its mandate to help enable the component Local Government Units in their continuing fight against COVID-19. On August 18, 2020, the PGLU donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and disinfection supplies to LGU Agoo, upon the request of the latter. Gov. Pacoy is also in constant coordination with the local chief executives of the other LGUs to check on their operations in the continuing Modified General Community Quarantine in the province.

NDH Sends Home 9 CoViD-19 Recoveries

SWEET SENDOFF. It is challenging to find moments to celebrate in these difficult times but Naguilian District Hospital Public Relations Communications Committee (NDH PRCC) led by OIC-Chief of Hospital Dr. Michelle D. Arellano together with the hospital staff on duty send home a total of nine CoViD-19 recoveries on August 16 and 18, 2020 after receiving their second negative RT-PCR test results.

The first batch of recoveries were seven residents from Disso-or Bauang, La Union confined in NDH care since August 1, 2020 while the second batch were two members of the Philippine Army who were in admitted since August 3, 2020.

NDH sends them off with cheers and applauses and gave them congratulatory tokens as Dr. Michelle D. Arellano reminded them to follow the minimum health standards.

May these small wins serve as inspiration to each kaprobinsiaan to follow all the protocols set to fight CoViD-19 and to build a #StrongerLaUnion.

Gov. Pacoy Leads His Cabinet Members Onwards New Normal

Despite the CoViD-19 pandemic, the Province of La Union perseveres in its Transformative Governance journey. Thus, with the aim to establish a Stronger La Union, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III convenes his Cabinet Members, together with their Seconds-in-Command, Unit Heads and Administrative Officers, through a video conference meeting today, August 14, 2020, as the second part of the Pre-State of the Province Address (Pre-SOPA) Dialogue Series.
Gov. Pacoy presented the updated strategy, “Stronger La Union: Provincial Strategy on Response, Recovery, and Local Economic Development (LED)” to the body. With the recent developments in CoViD-19 and the new normal, the vision of the province to be The Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025 also needed to cope through the integration of crisis response and recovery. This is to enable LED in the long term via our enabler industries, Agriculture and Tourism.
After which, Gov. Pacoy directed the department and unit heads to meet with their teams to further discuss the strategy, and agree on their alignment and program proposals for 2021. He also reiterates the need to strengthen sectoral capabilities to ensure resource mobilization efficiency and achievement of optimal results in programs and commitments.
Other matters discussed in the meeting were the presentation of the current status of CoViD-19 in the Province and the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) CoViD-19 Operations and Initiatives. Moreover, Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace A. Cargamento proposed a sectoral strengthening to adopt with the new strategy which the Governor gave his approval.
The Cabinet Members gave their commitment to become enablers in their own departments to make PGLU an organization that creates a Province worth living in. “Adversities should not divide us but should make our bond stronger because more than ever, our people need us now,” said Gov. Pacoy.

PGLU Supports CoViD-19 Containment in Burgos

With the recent surge in the CoViD-19 cases in the Municipality of Burgos, the Provincial Government of La Union through the Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) extends its help to the municipality by turning over Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and hygiene kits on August 14, 2020.
To enable the municipality to contain their CoViD-19 cases, a lecture on Contract Tracing and Zoning Containment Strategy was conducted by PIMT Deputy Incident Commander Alvin Cruz.
The Provincial Government of La Union continuously supports each local government unit of the province in their fight against CoVid-19 and in ensuring a safer community.

PGLU Promotes Responsible Mining, Quarrying

The Provincial Government of La Union through the Office of the Provincial Governor – Environment and Natural Resources Unit (OPG-ENRU) conducts checkpoint activity in Pugo, La Union on August 13, 2020. The establishment of spot quarry checkpoints in the exit and entry points of La Union is one of the various programs of OPG-ENRU in promoting responsible mining and curbing illegal quarrying operations in La Union. Fines and penalties are imposed to violators pursuant to the Tax Ordinance No. 115-2017, the Revenue Code of the Province of La Union.

PGLU in Full Support to City Gov’t to Manage COVID-19 Situation

With the aim to reinforce the ongoing initiatives of the City Government of San Fernando to contain COVID-19, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) conducted series of activities to include monitoring of minimum health standards; assessment of peace and order situation; and augmentation of relief operations, peace and order personnel, and swabbing team.
The Minimum Health Standards Assessment Team of PGLU conducted a rapid assessment activity in Barangay San Agustin on August 7, 2020 to ensure the observance of minimum health standards particularly on Engineering Control, Administrative Control, and Use of Personal Protective Equipment. Findings and observations were communicated to the LGU’s Incident Management Team for appropriate action and for identification of necessary support from the PGLU.
Secondly, the Provincial Core Team Against COVID-19 (PCTAC) Sub-Committee on Checkpoint and Security through Capt Gregor Mendel Panelo and La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) Provincial Director Jay R Cumigad also conducted an assessment on the peace and order situation in the barangay and augmented the deployed personnel for peacekeeping and checkpoint manning as well as the safeguarding of the barangay’s shoreline area.
The PGLU also augmented the efforts of the City Government to include the deployment of four (4) personnel from the Provincial Diagnostics and Testing Team to assist in the conduct of mass RT- PCR testing and the provision of 755 food packs and 740 hygiene kits for the constituents.
The Provincial Government commits to continue its relentless support to its component local government units to protect all Kaprobinsiaan. Thus, we encourage everyone to do their part by practicing the minimum health standards and by being #WithUs as we fight COVID-19.

LUMC Promotes Breastfeeding

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the La Union Medical Center (LUMC) shows its support to the National Breastfeeding Month and International Breastfeeding Week Celebrations through simultaneous breastfeeding of mothers at the Obstetrics-Gynecology ward of LUMC on August 7, 2020.

National Breastfeeding Month and International Breastfeeding Week are both observed in August and this year’s themes focus on the benefits of breastfeeding.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding starting within one hour after birth until a baby is six months old. Nutritious complementary foods should then be added while continuing to breastfeed for up to two years or beyond. Breastfeeding boosts a range of physical, emotional, and other benefits for both mother and child.

OPERASYON NG MGA VAN TRANSPORT, MAHIGPIT NA BINABANTAYAN SA LA UNION
Mahigpit na binabantayan ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng La Union ang pag-operate ng mga van transport na namamasada at naghahatid ng mga Locally-Stranded Individuals (LSIs) papasok ng probinsya.
Sa bisa ng Executive Order No. 19-C na nilagdaan ni Gov. Pacoy noong unang araw ng Agosto 2020, inilahad na ang mas mahigpit na patakaran para sa mga van transport na ito.
Sa nasabing direktiba, kailangan nang magpakita ng mga driver ng mga van ng permit mula sa LTRFB na nagpapatunay na sila ay may kaukulang pangkrisa upang mag-operate sa panahon ng pandemya.
Para sa mga driver na hindi residente ng La Union, iiwan nila ang kanilang driver’s license sa mga pulis na nakatalaga sa border checkpoint, na makukuha nila sa kanilang paglabas muli ng probinya pagkatapos ihatid ang kanilang mga pasahero.
Required din ang mga driver na ito na magpakita ng resulta ng kanilang RT-PCR test, na nagpapatunay na sila ay negatibo sa sakit.
Sa mga LSI naman na lulan ng mga van transport na ito, sila ay susuriin isa-isa sa mga border checkpoints at kailangan nilang ipakita ang mga sumusunod na documentary requirements: duly-accomplished La Union Health Declaration Form; ID na nagpapatunay na sila ay residente ng LU; Travel Authority mula sa PNP na kanilang pinaggalingang lugar; Health Certificate mula sa local health unit ng kanilang pinanggalingang lugar na nakuha sa di lalagpas ng tatlong araw sa kanilang byahe; at RT-PCR test result na nagpapatunay na negatibo sila sa COVID-19.
Ang mga LSIs ay sasailalim din muli sa 14-day self-quarantine sa kani-kanilang mga tahanan. Sila ay imomonitor ng BHERT ng kanilang barangay.
Sa datos ng PGLU, mayroon nang 478 LSIs na na-assist sa kanilang paguwi sa probinsya, sa pamamagitan ng programa ng pamahalaan gaya ng Hatid Tulong Program ng National Government, Awid Kaprobinsiaan ng PGLU, at ng iba pang serbisyo ng mga LGUs.
Umaapela naman ang PGLU sa mga LSIs na umuuwi lulan ng pribadong sasakyan na ipagbigay-alam ang kanilang pagdating para sa wastong impormasyon at monitoring ng lokal na pamahalan.
Hinihikayat ang publiko na makipagtulungan sa pagpapatupad ng mga border protocols na ito para sa pagtatatag ng Stronger La Union.
