Focus Group Discussion on CoViD-19 Vaccines Conducted

๐—œ๐—ก ๐—™๐—ข๐—–๐—จ๐—ฆ: The Advocacy, Demand Generation, and Social Mobilization Group (ADGSMG) of the CoViD-19 Vaccination Program Task Force (CVP-TF) converges with the frontline healthcare workers of Caba District Hospital (CDH) for a Focus Group Discussion on CoViD-19 vaccines, March 18, 2021.
The FGD at CDH is a medium to gather insights into the frontliners’ thoughts and reservations about the vaccine. This data will be used to craft sector-focused messages aimed at increasing vaccine uptake in the province.

As their contribution to the #KalikasanNaman environmental advocacy through the La Union Greening Program of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), Bacurnay Family, through Board Member Nancy Corazon Bacurnay and twins Maria Victoria Angela and Maria Corazon Angelu Bacurnay, donated around 200 Narra seedlings to Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โ€œPacoyโ€ R. Ortega III on March 17, 2021 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Cash Assistance for Hog Raisers Affected with ASF Distributed

Considering the big impact of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the swine industry and in the life of the hog raisers and their family, the Provincial Government of La Union, through the representatives from the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, headed by Dr. Nida N. Gapuz; Office of the Provincial Treasury, headed by Ms. Janet D. Molina; and in coordination with the Municipal Agriculture Offices, distributed a total of P4, 708,000.00 to 770 hog raisers affected with ASF on February 1 to 5, 2021 and March 15 to 17, 2021 in the Municipalities of Agoo, Pugo, Aringay, Bauang, Balaoan, Naguilian, Burgos, Luna, Bangar, Bacnotan and Santol.

On the other hand, a total of P 18,715,000 were distributed by the Department of Agriculture as assistance to a different group of hog raisers. The cash assistance was distributed in order for the hog raisers to cope with their losses due to the ASF. Another set of distribution will be scheduled for other affected hog raisers.

ASF cases were recorded in the Province of La Union and culling were done in compliance with Department of Agriculture Administrative Order No. 22 series of 2020 to prevent and stop its spread in the neighboring barangays and municipalities.

ASF is a highly contagious hemorrhagic viral disease of domestic and wild pigs of all ages. Mortality can be as high as 100%. There is currently no available vaccine and treatment against African Swine Fever.

To promote the awareness about Tuberculosis (TB), Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) management conducted a participative lecture on March 16, 2021 at the Out Patient Department of BDH, Bacnotan, La Union.

La Union Completes Cold Chain for Any Vaccine Brand; Purchased Additional Medical Freezers, Refrigerators

As the fight against the CoViD-19 pandemic continues and in the ongoing vaccination of health care workers in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the leadership of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โ€œPacoyโ€ R. Ortega III, completes the cold chain for any vaccine brand as it turned over nine purchased medical freezers and refrigerators for vaccines to the provinceโ€™s five district hospitals and the La Union Medical Center (LUMC) during the PGLU Flag Raising Ceremony today, March 15, 2021.
