PGLU Now Accepts E-Tax Payment

In its continuous effort to improve ease of transaction and to adopt to the new normal protocols, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III through the Provincial Treasurer’s Office launched a digital tax payment system in the province.

PGLU Organizes Community PanTREE

In celebration of Earth Day, the Provincial Government of La Union through the Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) piloted the “Community PanTREE” in front of the Old SP Building, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union on April 26, 2021.

The said community panTREE distributes forest and fruit-bearing seedlings in exchange of forest and fruit-bearing seeds. Seedlings available are tamarind, chico, kawayan, narra, anonas, chessa, guyabano, breadfruit, rambutan, atis, and golden shower.

Several employees of the Provincial Government of La Union have availed the said service with 137 seedlings distributed in total. PG-ENRO aims to replicate the said program province wide on the onset of the rainy season.

In accordance with the Earth Day theme, “Restore Our Earth,” the Community PanTree ended on May 7, 2021 but was envisioned to be replicated in various areas of the province.

More so during these times, the PGLU through the leadership of Gov Pacoy perseveres to not only have a strong stance against the pandemic but also to continually fulfill its mission of improving the quality of life of the people.
The PGLU formalized its bid to undergo the Institutionalization Stage, the fourth and last stage of Institute for Solidarity in Asia’s (ISA’s) Performance Governance System (PGS) through a virtual MOA Signing Ceremony with the ISA represented by Executive Director Christian P. Zaens on April 26, 2021.
The event was also graced by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the La Union Multi-Sectoral Governance Council (MSGC), the different Department and Office Heads, and Chiefs of Hospitals.
ISA Founding Chairman, Dr. Jesus Estanislao stated, “Through the institutionalization of the Province of La Union, you can be at the forefront taking advantage of the opportunities…seizing the opportunities… making the Province of La Union a great great province that can be emulated by the other provinces. You will be a foundation stone for our building a Dream Philippines.”
PGLU shall work on delivering more high-impact programs and projects in order for transformation and positive change to take effect within the organization and down to the grassroots level. Through this, La Union inches closer to becoming the “Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.”

BLDH Receives Certificate of Commendation from PDEA

Balaoan District Hospital (BLDH) was commended by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for its excellent service. BLDH Chief of Hospital Dr. Mark Anthony S. Tomboc received the Certificate of Commendation on April 26, 2021 at BLDH, Balaoan, La Union.
PDEA expressed their appreciation to the employees of BLDH for catering and caring for their personnel who acquired CoViD-19 disease and were hospitalized in the facility. This gesture from satisfied patients serves as motivation for the healthcare workers to give their greatest service despite exhaustion due to the pandemic. Through the continuous support of the Provincial Government of La Union, the Department of Health and other agencies, BLDH healthcare workers always strive to provide satisfactory service to all their patients to make La Union a Healthy La Union, Happy La Union by 2022.

PGLU Prepares for Launch of Environmental Infrastructure Projects

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) is set to establish environmental support technologies and infrastructures such as waste disposal facilities, treatment facilities, and material recovery facilities to safeguard environmental integrity and ensure sustainable tourism in the Province.

The Environment and Natural Resources Office and Provincial Engineering Office spearheaded a consultative meeting with concerned local government units (LGUs) regarding these projects on April 23, 2021 via video conferencing.

The said meeting was presided by EnP. Annalyn Rosario-Valdez, Supervising Environmental Management Specialist. Present during the meeting were Engr. Ressie A. Estrella, Provincial Engineer and Engr. Sarah Raquepo of the Provincial Engineering Office.

As the PGLU envisions to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025, it is imperative to put in place various environmental infrastructure projects. Readiness of LGUs as to regulatory requirements prior to construction is currently being assessed.

The PGLU, as an enabling LGU, works in synergy with the component municipalities and city in attaining the vision of the Province.

BLDH Celebrates 48th Anniv through Environment Initiatives

In celebration of Balaoan District Hospital’s (BLDH’s) 48th Founding Anniversary, employees of BLDH conduct clean up drive and landscaping at the hospital surroundings on April 23, 2021. Said activity coincided with the celebration of World Earth Day with this year’s theme Earth Restoration. BLDH believes that patients’ health can be greatly improved with a clean and beautiful surrounding.

SP REVIEWS PROCESSES, RE-ORIENTED VIRTUALLY

As part of the office’s wildly important goals (WIGs) for 2021, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Office together with the resource speakers from Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) Offices, Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) conducted a Virtual Orientation Seminar on the Review Process of the SP on April 22, 2021 via video conferencing.

Gov. Pacoy Bares ELCAC Provincial Task Force La Union Action Plan 2021

As the chairperson of the Provincial Task Force (PTF) – La Union, Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III presented the End Local Communist Armed Conflict PTF – La Union CY 2021 Action Plan during the Regional Task Force – ELCAC 1 Joint Regional Development Council – Regional Peace and Order Council videoconference meeting on April 22, 2021.
The action plan presented included the conduct of Provincial Task Force Cluster Heads/Core Group Meetings; sustainment of the Community Support Program – White Area Operations by the Civil Military Operations Company of the Armed Forces of the Philippines; the conduct of the 2nd Provincial Youth Leadership Summit; the conduct the Provincial Level Security Assessment Forum; and the facilitation of Quarterly Peace Forum.
“Geared towards building a Safe and Stronger La Union, rest assured that the Province of La Union is fully committed to implement the Provincial Task Forces CY 2021 Action Plan to End Local Communist Armed Conflicts in partnership with our governance partners and stakeholders and carry out effective programs, projects and activities in alignment with the national and regional initiatives,” Gov. Pacoy said.
The meeting was presided by National Security Adviser and Director General, NSC Cabinet Officer for Regional Development & Security for Region I Hon. Hermogenes C. Esperon, Jr. and was attended by local government unit representatives, core group/cluster heads/advisers, line agencies, and private sector representatives.
In full support of the Executive Order No. 70 or the Whole of Nation Approach to attain inclusive and sustainable peace, the Provincial Government of La Union established its Provincial Task Force through Executive Order No. 36 Series of 2019.
