AUTHORITIES APPRISE SP LU ON NEW SWINE VIRUS

Dr. Rheuel C. Bobis, Head of Infectious Disease Cluster of DOH-CHD 1 enlightens the 22nd Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) on the new virus called G4 EA H1N1 which may have a pandemic potential during the 55th Regular Session of the SP held on July 14, 2020 at the SP Session Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union. He informed that recent studies found that there are no reports of G4 virus spreading from person-to-person and that the spread is only in animal model.

BFAR: TILAPIA, SHRIMPS IN LA UNION SAFE TO EAT

Ms. Mea F. Baldonado, Fishing Regulations Officer of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region I (BFAR RO1) enlightens the 22nd Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of La Union during its 53rd Regular Session on June 30, 2020 at the SP Session Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union on the reports on the viruses/diseases found in marine and aquatic resources particularly tilapia and shrimps that allegedly caused the mortality of fishes in the Laguna. According to her, the viruses/diseases found in tilapia and shrimps only affects fishes in post larvae stage (fry/fingerlings) and do not pose any risk on human health and that tilapia and shrimps are safe for human consumption.

3 SP DRAFT ORDINANCES UNDERGO HYBRID PUBLIC HEARING

The SP Committee on Public Works and Utilities, chaired by SPM Maria Annabelle S. de Guzman and participants to the public hearing on Draft Ordinance 205-2019 and 206-2019 listen to the comments and suggestions of Department of Public Works and Highways 1st District Engineer Engr. Emil Ganaden during the Hybrid Public Hearing conducted on June 26, 2020 at the SP Building, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union and digitally via Zoom Online Conferencing. Said public hearing was also aired live via the SP Facebook page.

PDC Approves Updated La Union Transformative Governance Roadmap

Gov. Pacoy presides the Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting being the PDC Chairperson online on June 25, 2020 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol building, City of San Fernando, La Union. In said meeting the updated La Union Transformative Governance Roadmap was unanimously approved by the council.

Sison reports that the Province of La Union and all its component Local Government Units have established their Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict Task Force through Executive Orders or Resolutions during the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) and La Union Anti-Drug Abuse Council (LUADAC) joint meeting through video teleconferencing on June 22, 2020.

LTFRB SPEAKS ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT STATUS IN LA UNION

Transportation Development Office Chief Atty. Anabel M. Nullar of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Region I (LTFRB RO I) serves as Resource Speaker during the 51st Regular Session of the 22nd Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) on June 16, 2020 at the SP Session Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. She apprised the August Body on the granting of franchise of tricycles and other transportation systems/ facilities and the public transport situation in the Province of La Union which could be used in aid of legislation.

FACE-TO-FACE SESSION RESUMES IN SP LU

The 22nd Sangguniang Panlalawigan resumes its face-to-face session on June 2, 2020 at the SP Session Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union following the health and safety protocols. Due to the threat of Covid-19 and strict protocols, the conduct of SP Regular Sessions starting March 17 to May 26, 2020 were done via e- governance set-up or video conferencing.
