In a bid to showcase the thrilling potential of boat paddling as an adventure sport in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), successfully organized the province’s first-ever Fishing Boat Marathon known as the Bangka-thon. Held on June 8, 2023, at Barangay Ilocanos Sur, City of San Fernando, La Union, this event served as one of the highlights of the province’s month-long celebration of Bulan ti Mannalon ken Mangngalap.
In pursuant to the Provincial Ordinance No. 034-2012, “An Act Declaring and Fixing the First Monday of June Every Year as the Arbor Day or Tree-Planting Day in La Union,” and in time for the celebration of World Environment Day, a total of 87 volunteers took part in planting 500 fruit-bearing tree seedlings on June 5, 2023 at Sitio Captaoan, San Gabriel, La Union.
Moving towards the end of the first half of the year, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David encouraged the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) workforce to remember the very reason why they came on board in the service, which is to do more and provide more to the Kaprobinsiaan. During the first Monday Flag Raising Ceremony, Gov. Rafy highlighted that no matter how big or small one’s efforts and actions are, these all make a difference. Reflecting on how far they have come and what they have done that was worthwhile is essential in re-assessing themselves as they reach their personal goals and eventually attaining the organization’s goals.
The La Union Medical Center (LUMC), in collaboration with the Professional Regulation Commission Regional Office in Rosales, Pangasinan, successfully conducted its third annual Mobile Service Visit. Held at the Dr. Eufranio “Franny” C. Eriguel Memorial Hall in LUMC, the event took place on June 2, 2023.
