LU JOINS 1ST BIGGEST SUMMIT ON TOURISM

Representatives from the Provincial Information Office – Tourism Operations Unit and Office of the Governor – Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit join more than 7,000 attendees from different industries in a photo opportunity during the first Tourism Summit Philippines 2019 held on May 2, 2019 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. The summit aims to develop a more integrated tourism industry and contribute to the sustainable socio-economic growth in the region.

PGLU Child Development Center Celebrates Moving up

PTO Distributes Election Paraphernalia to LGU Treasurers and Staff

The Municipal and City Treasurers and their staff check election paraphernalia on May 2, 2019 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union before bringing them to a safe place in their respective offices for safe keeping until the local election on May 13, 2019. The Provincial Treasurer’s Office headed by OIC-Provincial Treasurer Bernabe C. Dumaguin has completed the distribution of election paraphernalia to the 20 Local Government Units of La Union.

La Union Provincial Treasury Office receives official ballots from COMELEC

The Provincial Treasury Office, through OIC Bernabe Dumaguin, receives from COMELEC La Union Election Supervisor Atty. Alipio Alonzo S. Castillo III the official ballots which will be used by the 510, 709 registered voters in La Union during the 2019 National and Local Elections on May 13, 2019. The PTO shall safekeep the ballots until they are claimed by the respective city/municipal treasurers within today, May 2, 2019.

PGLU to Partner with LGUs for Tourism Awareness Training

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Information Office – Tourism Operations Unit will conduct a Training on Tourism Awareness and Capability Building on May and July 2019. This aims to educate and train host communities of major attraction sites in the province to take advantage of tourism as an engine of local economic and community development while ensuring environmental sustainability.

The training will be conducted in collaboration with the Department of Tourism (DOT) – Region 1. PGLU shall partner with the Central and Central Eastern Tourism Circuits LGUs for the said training.

The first batch for the training will be attended by host communities in City of San Fernando and San Juan on May 23 – 24, 2019.

The second batch is scheduled on May 29 – 30, 2019 for Bauang and Naguilian. Another batch is set on July 18 – 19, 2019 for San Gabriel and Bacnotan whil;e the last batch is on July 25 – 26, 2019 for Burgos and Bagulin.

The seminar will include familiarization of the various tourism sites in their respective localities; behavioral patterns; tourism products and services offered; effective customer service; and basic tour guiding.

Expected participants are designated Municipal Tourism Officers and/or their technical alternate; Sangguninag Bayan Committee Chairpersons on Tourism; Sangguniang Kabataan and Barangay Officials; Local Transport Operators and Drivers; Tourism Attractions/Enterprises’ Owners/Managers; Tourism Operations staff; and Concerned Tourism Stakeholders. Resource speakers and facilitators are from DOT-Central Office and Region 1.
