BDH: Hemodialysis Month

A LIFE PROLONGED BY BLOOD SHARED. As part of the National Kidney Month, a hemodialysis patient from Brgy. Pangpang, Bacnotan receives blood through transfusion during her dialysis session at Hemotek Renal Center at Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) on June 3, 2019. Said blood unit was collected during the 13th Mass Blood Donation Activity in partnership with the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP) – Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) on May 17, 2019 at BDH, Bacnotan, La Union.

PGLU joins ABONO Partylist, LUVR, and Tropang ALF in Tree Planting for a Cause

The Provincial Government of La Union partners with the La Union Vibrant Riders, ABONO Party-list, and Tropang ALF in conducting a Tree Planting for a Cause on June 2, 2019 at Barangay Sagayad, City of San Fernando, La Union. The proceeds were given to Sagayad Elementary School and two Senior Citizen beneficiaries.

BRIGADA OSPITAL AT CDH

In line with the observance of Dengue Awareness Month, No Smoking Month and as part of the Caba District Hospital’s (CDH) Environmental Preservation and Protection Program, the hospital staff conducted a Brigada Ospital around the hospital on June 1, 2019 at CDH, Poblacion Sur, Caba, La Union.

CDH staff came together as one family to clear all the waste, cover possible areas with stagnant water and conduct 5S, which stands for Sort, Straighten, Sweep, Standardize and Sustain, in their respective unit or section.

During the clean-up drive, CDH Nurses also informed the inpatients and their watchers about the importance of “4S strategy” as the best way to prevent dengue. It stands for Search and destroy mosquito breeding places, Seek early consultation whenever symptoms are observed, do Self-protection measures like wearing pajamas and long-sleeved shirts and Say no to indiscriminate fogging.

Chief of Hospital Dr. Gretchen F. Aromin led the said activity to ensure a safe, clean and healthy environment for all the patients and hospital personnel. Family Day cum hospital clean Up Drive Brigada Ospital is a monthly activity of the hospital which is scheduled every first Saturday of the month.#

LU’s Ultimate pasaLUbong Center: La Union Agri-Tourism Center

In support to the Agri-Tourism vision of the province, the Provincial Government of La Union headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III is strengthening efforts to help promote and showcase La Union’s native products, delicacies, tourist spots and tourism services through the La Union Agri-Tourism Center.

La Union Agri-Tourism Center is strategically located in the center of trade and business of the City of San Fernando, La Union. It showcases and highlights One-Town-One-Product (OTOP) and craftsmanship of the 20 towns of the province. It also supports micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to manufacture, offer and market distinctive products playing a crucial role in poverty alleviation to cope with the global economic crisis. The center offers products such as colored softbrooms, inabel, honey, sugarcane wine, vinegar, Labtang baskets, rice, printed La Union T-shirts, and other locally-produced products from different Local Government Units (LGUs) of the province.

Moreover, the La Union Agri-Tourism Center promotes La Union destinations and services, thus expanding the province’s trade and tourism opportunities targeting foreign and domestic travelers alike. It also serves venue for market promotion activities

The La Union Agri-Tourism Center has three sections namely the Local Economic Enterprise Investment Promotion Unit which serves as the information center for the tourists and travelers; the OTOP pasaLUbong shop where native delicacies and souvenir items can be purchased; and the Dap-ayan Center which serves as the center for culture and the arts in the province.

From last summer, tourists have started flocking to La Union not only to visit and experience its breathtaking beaches and landscapes and historical features but also to have a taste of its unique and delicious food products. The pasaLUbong Center in La Union is definitely worth the visit!

BDH Observes World Tobacco Day

CERTIFIED TOBACCO-FREE. In celebration of World No Tobacco Day, three Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) personnel have been awarded with Certificates of Achievement for the completion of smoking cessation counselling sessions conducted by the Tobacco-Smoking Cessation and Control Committee, and for being certified tobacco-free during a recognition program on May 31, 2019. Along with them, another three BDH personnel pledge to stop smoking beginning on dates specified on their pledge cards. BDH received a Red Orchid Award last 2017 in recognition of the hospital’s efforts to end tobacco smoking in its premises and among its personnel.
