PGLU TRAINS MORE TOUR GUIDES

University of the Philippines-Asian Institute of Tourism Professor Yael T. Fernandez, DOT-Accredited Mabuhay Tour Guide, gives pointers and explains additional tips to the participants of the week-long Community Guiding Seminar during their Commentaries and Pre-Mock Tour sessions on July 26, 2019 at Marand Resort and Spa, Bauang, La Union. The said activities gauged the level of learnings of the participants from the training. 34 participants from various municipalities of South La Union joined the seminar and once they satisfactorily meet accreditation requirements will become Community Guides in their respective localities.

Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III personally and discusses the “PUSO Manual,” which summarizes the four fundamentals of the Agri-Tourism strategy, to employees of the Media and Public Information Unit (MPIU) on July 26, 2019 at the MPIU Office, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. The same manual will be distributed to all Provincial Government of La Union employees and other key internal stakeholders to give an overview of the strategy of the province and Performance Governance System.

Caba Gets Ready for Disaster Through HASAR

To create a disaster-ready community, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office rescuers train Brgy. Officials, Sangguniang Kabataan Officials, and Volunteers from the Municipality of Caba on High Angle Search and Rescue on July 22 to 26, 2019 at Villa Navarro Resort, Caba, La Union. A total of 28 participants graduated from said training.

PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT TRAINING FOR CRISES EMERGENCIES, DISASTERS CONDUCTED

Prioritizing the commitment of the Provincial Government of La Union to have a “Disaster Resilient La Union by 2022,” the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) conducted the Psychosocial Support Training during Crises Emergencies and Disasters at Hotel Supreme, Baguio City on July 23-26, 2019.

LA UNION TOURISM ON THE RISE. Department of Tourism Region 1 Director Martin S. Valera presents results of the Region 1 2018 Visitor Survey to Gov. Pacoy and Provincial Information Officer Mr. Adamor L. Dagang on July 25, 2019 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol Building, City of San Fernando, La Union. Survey revealed that the province ranked first in terms of tourism spendings, repeat visitors and average length of stay in the region due to the undeniable drawing power of surfing and emerging Agri-Tourism potentials of La Union.
