LU SHOWCASES AGRI-TOURISM IN THE 30TH PTM

Provincial Information Office – Tourism Operations Unit Staff assists Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. on his visit at the La Union Pavilion during the 30th Philippine Travel Mart on August 31, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City. The Former Senator also checked the La Union tour packages and said that the province is close to his heart.

MABANAG JUSTICE HALL NOW THE SENATOR ALEJO R. MABANAG BUILDING

The Provincial Board has officially renamed the Mabanag Justice Hall to Senator Alejo R. Mabanag Building, a property owned by the Provincial Government of La Union which was built in honor of the former Secretary of the Department of Justice and Senator of the Philippines, the late Hon. Alejo Ragojo Mabanag of Bangar, La Union.

LU AS AN AGRI-TOURISM DESTINATION

Tagged as the new economic game-changer, Agri-Tourism is one of the drivers for economic development. The word “Agri-Tourism” is coined from words agriculture and tourism. Primarily, Agri-Tourism involves an agriculturally-based operation or activity that draws visitors to a farm, ranch or any natural site like vegetable plantations, orchid farms and bee farms for outdoor recreational activities, education, shopping or even lodging.

PAGWANAWANAN: A GLIMPSE OF THE PAST

The town of Luna, La Union, named after the town’s famous sons Gen. Antonio and painter Juan Luna and formerly called Namacpacan, is the home of the famous and historical landmark that signifies the province’ rich history – the Baluarte or Luna Watch Tower. The 400 year old historical landmark is situated in Barangay Victoria.

LU PROVINCIAL BOARD SUPPORTS BILL INSTITUTIONALIZING MALASAKIT CENTER

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of La Union passed a resolution supporting the bill institutionalizing the establishment of Malasakit Centers, which are “one-stop shops” that hasten the delivery of healthcare assistance to the poor making quality healthcare more affordable and accessible to them.
