PGLU implements 4-day workweek amid COVID-19

March 13, 2020 – The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) will observe the four-day workweek starting Monday, March 16, 2020, as a pro-active measure to prevent spread of the corona virus disease (COVID-19). This, however, exempts PGLU offices providing health services, disaster relief and response, security and other vital services.

PGLU Presents Projects in Rice Achievers Awards

Provincial Agriculturist Ramon F. Laudencia presents the notable projects, interventions and accomplishments in rice production of the province of La Union on the second day of the Rice Achievers Awards (RAA)-Provincial Category Technical Paper Presentation of the Agricultural Training Institute held on March 9 -12, 2020 at the Century Park Hotel, Malate, Manila.

BDH COVID-19 Follows Triage System

BDH CoViD-19 TRIAGE SYSTEM. As a Level 1 Referring Facility, Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) management intensifies its triaging system to prevent transmission of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (CoViD-19) on March 11, 2020. All persons including BDH employees entering the facility are screened first at the triage area for fever, cough, colds, and diarrhea. Patients with severe respiratory illness are checked inside a health tent with a standby equipped ambulance and will immediately be referred to Level 2 and 3 hospitals.

Wastewater Treatment Facility proposed to rise in Surfing Capital of the North

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) together with the Municipal Government of San Juan, Basic Needs Services-Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BNS-BORDA), and Department of Health (DOH) Region 1 discussed the proposed establishment of wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) in San Juan, La Union on March 11, 2020 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol Building, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Engr. Jonas Maronilla and Engr. Warly Mahusay of BNS-BORDA presented the feasibility study for the proposed WWTF including the master plan and business plan for the said project. Present during the meeting from DOH Region 1 were Engr. Ashley Antonio and representatives from PGLU including Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator EnP. Michaela Delfinado, Office of the Provincial Governor-Environment and Natural Resource Unit EnP. Annalyn Rosario-Valdez and staff, Provincial Engineer’s Office Engr. Ressie Estrella and staff, representative from Provincial Budget Office Mr. Alvin Estal, representatives from Provincial Health Office Engr. Candy Miguel and Mr. Ramon Fangon.

Present from the Municipality of San Juan were Sangguniang Bayan Member Nikki Valero, Municipal Planning and Development Officer Vincent Borja, Municipal Environment and Natural Resource Officer Riza Joy Abat, Municipal Assessor Leila Valdriz, Municipal Agriculturist Margarita Guinomma, Municipal Tourism Officer Emmanuel Labsan.

If approved, the WWTF will help address water shortage and pollution through the treatment of wastewater for reuse.

OPAss Assesses Real Property to be Acquired by Government

The La Union Appraisal Committee led by Provincial Assessor Engr. Arnulfo A. Cacho secures complete data to ascertain the market value of the property for the construction of a multi-purpose hall in Brgy. San Joaquin Sur, Agoo, La Union on March 11, 2020. The committee was tasked to determine the market value of the real property to be acquired by the government for public purpose.

NDH Nurse Tops ITRMC Nursing Skills Training

Mabalo, Nurse I of Naguilian District Hospital (NDH) tops the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) Nursing Skills Training in the Operating Room at the ITRMC on March 10, 2020. INSTOR is a training which deals with various aspects of the operating room that contributes to safe and effective patient care.

In celebration of Women’s Role in History Month to Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) of Bacnotan, La Union, who are mostly women.
