Food Packs Delivered to Bauang Households

Distribution of relief goods continues today, April 3, in Bauang with a total of 18,812 food packs given to households in town. Other municipalities are scheduled to receive their relief goods in the coming days, as the Provincial Government of La Union remains steadfast in its service in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Uniformed Personnel Extends Help in PGLU Repacking Operations

Personnel from the Philippine Air Force 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Wing, Philippine Navy, Coast Guard, and Army Reserve extend help as augmentation teams in the continuing repacking operations of relief goods to all households in La Union, on April 1, 2020 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. Since March 23, a total of 51,560 food packs have been prepared by nine repacking teams in the Provincial Government of La Union.

Food Packs Delivered to Rosario Households

Representatives from the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) deliver food packs to the doorstep of households in Rosario, La Union on March 31, 2020. The PGLU continues the repacking of relief goods for all other Local Government Units.

PGLU Grants Real Property Tax Prompt Payment Extension

By virtue of Resolution No. 363-2020, the Provincial Government of La Union granted the extension of 10% discount for prompt payment on real property tax and waiving of 2% interest for late payment until April 30, 2020 which originally expires on March 31, 2020.
The resolution was based on the declaration of Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon by President Rodrigo R. Duterte on March 16, 2020 due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) resulting to people not being able to pay their real property taxes as scheduled.
The resolution was passed in accordance to the Local Government Code of 1991 allowing the Sanggunian concerned to prescribe an extension of payment and grant a discount not exceeding 20% of the annual tax due. The 2017 Revenue Code of the Province of La Union also provides that in the province, 10% discount shall be given to prompt payments and 20% discount for advanced payments.
Prompt payment is defined as when a taxpayer pays within the prescribed schedule of payment while advance payment is when a taxpayer pays before the prescribed schedule of payment.
The said resolution was also supported by the declaration of State of Calamity throughout the Philippines due to COVID-19 by President Duterte and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 362-2020 likewise declaring a State of Calamity in the province due to COVID-19 allowing the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to grant the aforementioned adjustments.
With the projected end of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon on April 12, 2020, this move is expected to contribute to the coping of the people with the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Representatives from the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) deliver food packs to the doorstep of households in Pugo, La Union on March 30, 2020. A total of 4699 households from the municipality received their food packs. The PGLU continues the repacking of relief goods for all other Local Government Units.

PGLU Observes Strict Disinfection Procedures

In the strengthened campaign to combat COVID-19, strict disinfection procedures are now being observed at the Provincial Capitol Building, City of San Fernando, La Union. Individuals undergo shoe disinfection before entering the building, while government vehicles used in the province-wide surveillance are washed with disinfectant every after travel. Despite the work-from-home scheme, Provincial Government officials led by Gov. Pacoy continue to report to the Capitol for the daily assessment meeting of the province’s Anti COVID-19 operations.

PGLU Conducts Drainage Cleaning, Dredging

Due to the ongoing Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon, the usually busy thoroughfares of the capital city are now free of pedestrians and motorists, thus a good opportunity to declog waterways in time for the rainy season.
