Family of COVID-19 Positive Patient in Naguilian Undergo Swabbing

On the 30th day of the province with zero new COVID-19 Positive Case, a male from Bliss Baraoas Sur, Naguilian, La Union tests positive on the virus. To ensure that the family of the patient are not affected, Naguilian District Hospital Contact Tracing Team conducted oropharyngeal / throat swabbing to them on June 15, 2020.

81st Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army Presents Accomplishments to Gov. Pacoy

REINFORCEMENT FOR PGLU’s COVID OPERATIONS. Officers from the 81st Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army (81st IB, PA) namely Commanding Officer LTC RODRIGO A MARIÑAS, Company Commander 1LT CESAR L MENOR, and MAJ. ROGELIO A DUMBRIGUE JR (OS), present to Gov. Pacoy the accomplishments of the 81st IB, PA as they provided help in the COVID-19 operations of the province, in a courtesy call on June 15, 2020 at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. Gov. Pacoy expressed his gratitude to the army officers for providing reinforcement for the relief operations and checkpoint management of the Provincial Government of La Union. PGLU TO ISSUE ORDINANCE VIOLATION RECEIPT

To achieve a more systematic and orderly issuance and collection of fines for violation of provincial ordinances, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of La Union passed Provincial Ordinance No. 217-2020 prescribing the use and issuance of a Provincial Ordinance Violation Receipt (POVR) for violation of any existing Provincial Ordinance during its 41st Regular Session on April 7, 2020.

The Office of the Provincial Treasurer is set to produce a POVR that will be used for collecting fines and penalties from violators of provincial ordinances. If the violator is part or a member of a corporation, organization, partnership, LGUs or any other similar entities, the POVR will be issued to its President and/or General Manager, Managing Partner and/or Officer-in-Charge or Local Chief Executive.

The Philippine National Police, and deputized apprehending personnel or Citation Officer authorized by the Governor, shall issue the POVR and properly document the violation by taking pictures and collecting the personal data of violators. Violators can pay their corresponding fines or penalties at the Office of the Provincial Treasurer within 48 hours.

The province through the governor can also deputize citation officers such as Barangay Officials, Barangay Tanods, Sanitary Inspectors, Market Personnel and Environment and Natural Resources Unit Personnel for sand and gravel tax violators.

These penalties serve as sanctions or warning to the public so that they would be disciplined to adhere to the local ordinances that redound for the common good and general welfare.

City of San Fernando Receive 2nd Wave of Relief

SAN FERNANDO, AY-AYATENDAKA. The Provincial Government of La Union shows its love to the residents of the City of San Fernando, La Union, as it distributes the second wave of relief goods to 46,709 families on June 1-6, 2020. While the PGLU has already completed its second wave of relief operations in the entire province, it assures of continuing support to the constituents as it lays the path towards recovery from the pandemic.

LU Provincial Board Supports Civil Service Eligibilities for Qualified Frontliners

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of La Union passed a resolution supporting the enactment by the Congress of the Philippines of a law granting civil service eligibilities to qualified frontliners in the fight against the pandemic COVID-19.

Board Member Jennifer C. Mosuela sponsored the resolution which was supported by the whole members of the SP.

Board Member Mosuela said that one incentive for the health workers, volunteers and other frontliners, and as a manifestation of gratitude of their sacrifices and heroism in the fight against the dreaded virus, is the grant of civil service eligibilities to those who are qualified.

She further stated that the Congress of the Philippines had done it before with the enactment of laws granting civil service eligibilities to those who had served in the government service for 10 years or more; to qualified members of the Sanggunian and the Sangguniang Kabataan as well as to the Barangay Health Workers.

Once the bill becomes a law, many health workers in the province will benefit, granting them possible job permanency.

The said resolution no. 584-2020 was approved on June 2, 2020.

PGLU Sends Home more Home of Hope Wards

HOME FOR GOOD. Another two wards at the Provincial Government of La Union’s ‘Home of Hope’ Isolation Facility were sent home after testing negative from COVID-19 on June 1, 2020. The wards are spouses from Mandaluyong City who traveled to La Union on May 24 but were held at the Rosario checkpoint after failing to present the necessary documentary requirements and hence their admission at the facility. The wife Lhea, a native of Sevilla, San Fernando City, is eight-month pregnant, while the Cebuano husband, Herbert, is a private employee. They decided to come home to La Union for good, where they plan to relocate as they embrace the ‘new normal.’

San Juan Receives 2nd Wave of Relief

WAVES OF MERCY, WAVES OF GRACE. While surfing and other tourism activities were halted in San Juan, La Union due to the COVID-19 pandemic, waves continue to roll not only in the shores of the province’s surfing capital but in the hearts of the people of San Juan. Indeed, they continued to ride the waves of grace that incessantly poured upon them, such as this second wave of relief goods given to 13,700 families on May 28, 2020 by the Provincial Government of La Union.
