LU SP Allows Temporary Use of Aguila, Gapuz, Guerrero Roads Sidewalk Portions as Parking Areas

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of the Province of La Union approved ordinance 288-2021 allowing the temporary use of the sidewalk portions of Aguila Road, Gapuz Zigzag Road and Guerrero Road in The City of San Fernando, La Union as parking areas for Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) , clients, and employees while improvement and maintenance of the capitol compound is ongoing.

The said ordinance was approved through the initiative of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel Pacoy R. Ortega III, and sponsored by the SP under the leadership of Vice Gov. Mario Eduardo Ortega to give way for the construction of the capitol building and thus promote and protect the safety of the visitors and employees of the capitol.

The ordinance allows the use of sidewalk portions of Aguila, Guerrero and Gapuz Zigzag Roads in the City of San Fernando, La Union on Mondays to Fridays, 7:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. starting March 2021 up to December, 2022.

The basis in allowing the temporary use of the said road is pursuant to Section 21 of Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991 which provides that local government units may permanently or temporarily close local roads, or regulate the use thereof, within their respective territorial jurisdictions.

The Philippine National Police – La Union Provincial Office, the Public Order and Safety Coordinating Office of the City of San Fernando, La Union, and the Security Services Unit of the PGLU was directed to assist in the implementation of this Ordinance on the afore-mentioned dates and time.

La Union Scholars Ready to Receive Assistance Through ATM Cards

Leveling up its digital services and as a testament of its full support for the welfare of youth in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) held the pilot distribution of the ATM Payroll Savings Card to the La Union Educational Assistance and Scholarship Program (LUEASP) on March 25, 2021 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The Provincial Government of La Union awarded QR Scanning desktop units to the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Bangar, Caba, and San Gabriel as a token of appreciation for their implementation of the NAPANAM Contact Tracing System in their designated LGUs on March 22-25, 2021 at the Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU) Office, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

NDH Celebrates 49th Anniversary

NDH @ 49. The Naguilian District Hospital celebrated its 49th Anniversary on March 23, 2021 through thanksgiving and health care activities. Employees headed by Provincial Health Officer II and OIC Chief of Hospital Dr. Eduardo Posadas offered a mass at the Saint Augustine Parish Church, Naguilian, La Union followed bya gift giving activity to all in-patients by the Nursing Service Staff at NDH.

As a sign of God’s blessing to NDH, a healthy baby girl was delivered through cesarean section and was called the NDH 49th Anniversary Baby. Also, on the same day one CoViD-19 recovery, a 24 years old female was discharged.

The Senior Citizens Health and Development Committee led by Dr. Renan Difuntorum referred a Senior Citizen patient for free CT Scan at the Department of Social Welfare and Development Malasakit Center.

Simultaneously, Sinovac Coronavac vaccination took place at the NDH New Building Conference Hall. Health protocols were observed in all activities.

BDH FRONTLINERS RECEIVE THEIR FIRST DOSE OF COVID19 VACCINE

Pasalubong Centers to be set on Strategic Locations in La Union

Producers from different local government units (LGUs) in the Province of La Union are getting a boost through the recently approved ordinance where farm products made in La Union may be collated, promoted and sold at pasalubong center in various and strategic areas in the Province of La Union.

After thorough deliberation, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved SP Ordinance no. 281-2021, entitled establishing the “Produkto Ti La Union Pasalubong Centers” in Strategic Locations in the Province of La Union to showcase and sell locally produced goods.

Board Member Christian I. Rivera of the 2nd district of La Union, said that part of promotion of Agri-Tourism in La Union, local farmers and manufacturers should be given the opportunity to showcase and sell local farm or agricultural products to tourists in a center established by the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), and tourist destinations should include pasalubong centers where tourists may purchase products made in La Union.

He likewise said that the Pasalubong Center will showcase truly La Union products, mostly foods like wine, chips, and other delicacies of micro, small and medium enterprises in the province.

“This is of great help to local entrepreneurs to further promote their locally produced products to bigger markets. Helping them improve their competitiveness enables them to contribute to economic and social development as well as in the poverty reduction efforts of the province,” SBM Rivera added.
