Governor Francisco Emmanuel โ€œPacoyโ€ R. Ortega III convenes the Provincial Core Team Against CoViD-19 (PCTAC) this morning, July 5, 2021. During the meeting, the different committees provided status updates on the CoViD-19 response of the province for June, as well as plans moving forward for July to December 2021.

PROV’L ASF TASKFORCE STRENGTHENS PREVENTIVE ACTIONS

In order to give updates on the ASF situation in our province, the Provincial African Swine Fever Task Force Meeting met on July 5, 2021 via video conferencing presided by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III and Provincial Veterinarian, Dr. Nida N. Gapuz. The said conference was attended by 33 member participants which includes department heads of different government offices in La Union. Updates on ASF situation in the Philippines, Region I and Province of La Union, activities on ASF prevention and control and moving forward activities were presented during the activity.

To ensure that existing guidelines on border control and protocols are followed by tourists and passing through travelers entering the province, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO) with the assistance of La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) conducted heightened spot checks in three of the Tourist One Stop Shops (TOSS) or Border Checkpoints on July 3, 2021.

PGLU JOINS 3RD PIESTA TI KARAYAN AMBURAYAN

The Provincial Government of La Union joins the Annual Piesta ti Karayan Amburayan, facilitated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources -Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) and participated in by the Governing Board, Executive Committee, Technical Working Group and Multi-Sectoral Group of the Lower Amburayan River Systemโ€“Water Quality Management Area (LARSโ€“WQMA) on July 2, 2021 at Alilem, Ilocos Sur.

PGLU GEARS UP FOR THE SEARCH FOR THE 2021 MOST BUSINESS-FRIENDLY

The Provincial Government of La Union through the Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit (LEEIPU) is currently preparing for the Most Business-Friendly Award submission of the Province of La Union.

In line with the 47th Philippine Business Conferenceโ€™s theme โ€œLGUs Innovative Response for the Recovery and Growth of Business,โ€ members of the Most Business-Friendly Technical Working Group met on July 1, 2021, via Online Conference to discuss guidelines in the conduct of the Search for the 2021 Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit.

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) annually spearheads the search for the Most Business-Friendly (MBF) Local Government Unit (LGUs) to commend the efforts of the LGUs that have been successfully restoring and increasing the business operations in their localities through significant and sustained innovative actions, programs and policies amidst the extreme challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The MBF also aims to highlight the best practices of LGUs that go beyond mere compliance to address the negative impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to the business community.

The PGLU has been persistent in empowering the business sector through various projects in partnership with national line agencies and component local government units.

Gov. Pacoy Meets with PNP Chief Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar

Gov. Pacoy reaffirms the Provincial Government of La Unionโ€™s support to the Philippine National Police (PNP) as he meets PNP Chief Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar in his command visit at the PNP Regional Office 1 and the La Union Police Provincial Office on June 30, 2021.
PNP Chief Eleazar commended the good working relationship of the PGLU, PNP and the whole PNP Regional Office 1 including the accomplishments and collective effort against illegal drugs and decreased crime rate. Both have committed to uphold the intensified cleanliness policy in the PNP.
