As a driving force for economic recovery, tourism enjoins everyoneโs involvement to advance the tourism scheme in the province. Accordingly, on August 5, 2022, the La Union Provincial Tourism Office spearheaded the Joint Induction Ceremony and Courtesy Call to the Governor of La Union Tourism Organizations at the La Union Peace, Order and Safety – Emergency Operations Center, City of San Fernando, La Union.
To promote and develop creativity and self expression of young children in the province, a 5-day Kiddie Art and Crafts Summer Class was initiated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on August 5 & 8 -11, 2022 at the PGLU Employees Child Development Center.
With the commitment to empower and capacitate the tourism workforce in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) thru the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO) in partnership with the Department of Tourism – Region 1 (DOT-RO1) conducted a capability building training for tourism stakeholders entitled, โThe Filipino Brand of Service Excellenceโ. The said training was divided into two batches, the first district tourism stakeholders last August 2-3, 2022 at Plaza de Castiel San Juan, La Union and the second district tourism stakeholders last August 4-5, 2022 at Rosebowl Bauang, La Union. ASEAN Master Trainer for Tourism, Ms. LJ Rosales from the Department of Tourism – Region 1 served as the official trainer for the 4-day training development program.
To provide a deeper understanding and appreciation on the roles and responsibilities of Local Legislators, the Committee on Laws, Rules and Privileges chaired by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member (SPM) Jennifer C. Mosuela Fernandez and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Secretariat recently conducted an Orientation-Seminar dubbed as โRevisiting the Review Powers of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on the Review of Resolutions and Ordinances of Component Local Government Units (LGUs)โ on August 4, 2022 at the SP Speaker Pro Tempore Francisco Ortega Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union.
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) and City Government of San Fernando have affirmed their dynamic partnership in maintaining a clean, safe and green environment for the kaprobinsiaan living in the heart of the province after Governor Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David personally turned over to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) one unit of hazardous waste hauling vehicle on August 2, 2022.
Geared towards a stronger, inclusive, effective and efficient Housing, Land Use and Relocations, the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC) and Board Member Victor I. Rivera, Chairperson of the Committee on Housing, Land Use and Relocation (HLUR) of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), convened on August 02, 2022 to discuss the housing, land use and possible legislations and other related programs and services of the Province. During the said meeting, Assistant Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Darius Leo A. Cargamento and Plans and Programs Unit Head EnP. Roshelle A. Mamaril discussed the various legal bases, existing ordinances and other issuances on the processing, review, and approval of Land Reclassification, Comprehensive Land Use Plans, and Zoning Ordinances. Also discussed are the legal mandate and functions of the Provincial Land Use Committee (PLUC) as the technical arm of the said committee.
Just in time for the Brigada Eskwela 2022, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Rafy Ortega-David handed over a check amounting to Php 6,705,000.00 to Atty. Donato D. Balderas, Jr., Schools Division Superintendent of the Department of Education La Union Schools Division Office (DepEd-LUSDO), to be utilized in the proposed school projects and building enhancement of 474 Public Schools in the Province of La Union for the incoming school year.

Raphaelle Veronica โRafyโ Ortega-David revisits the milestones of the first month of the new administration highlighting the timely and quick actions taken by the different offices in the events that transpired in the past month during the First Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on August 1, 2022.
