Manifesting the rich culture of the province of La Union, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) paid tribute to the 1st Ilocano and 6th President of the Philippines President Elpidio R. Quirino in the celebration of his 132nd Birth Anniversary through a Wreath-Laying Ceremony on November 16, 2022 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union. Vice-Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega together with the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members Victor I. Rivera and Cynthia Angelica M. Bacurnay, PGLU Department Heads, Resident Historian Dr. Adriel O. Meimban and PGLU employees joined the said activity.
Representing the bravery and fortitude of the Coast Guards of La Union, CG PO1 Julius Guray won the Non-Officer of the Year Award during the 121st Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Anniversary. Guray is the Commander of the Coast Guard Sub-Station of Luna, La Union.
To learn from other Local Government Units (LGUs) that have excelled in promoting local culture and tourism, the Provincial Government of La Union under the leadership of Gov. Rafy Ortega-David along with the Provincial Technical Working Group (TWG) on the Establishment of La Union Center for Ilokano Studies conducted a 3-day benchmarking study tour to the selected tourism and cultural sites in the Province of Pampanga on November 10 โ 12, 2022.
Paving way for the promotion of La Unionโs vision to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the La Union Provincial Library (LUPL), hosted the 4th Convention of Provincial Libraries in the Philippines held on November 9-11, 2022 at Puerto de San Juan Beach Resort Hotel, San Juan, La Union.
