Recognizing the victory of kaprobinsiaan grapplers, La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David together with Vice Governor Mario Eduardo Ortega and the Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has conveyed their most profound commendation to Mr. Elvester Gaspar and Mr. James M. Durag of Team Lakay-La Union for winning awards at the 39th Grappler’s Cup Benguet Martial Arts Festival held on September 24, 2023.
The Provincial Government of La Union through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) teamed up with the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) Trabaho Center in launching the first Find Jobs La Union Caravan on September 22, 2023 at DMMMSU-MLUC Covered Court, Catbangen, City of San Fernando, La Union to further open opportunities for kaprobinsiaan to get employed.
In an effort to foster self-reliance, 35 members of the Pederasyon ng May Kapansanan ng La Union (PMKLU) and Women with Disabilities (WWD) joined the Crochet Livelihood Training program initiative of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), in collaboration with the office of Board Member Maria Annabelle De Guzman, on September 22, 2023, at the Congressman Eufranio “Franny” C. Eriguel Hall, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Building, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.
As the province envisions to be The Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), under the leadership of Gov. Rafy Ortega-David and through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO), continues to strengthen its initiatives for the development of Farm Tourism through industry manpower skills trainings.
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), under the leadership of OIC-Provincial Agriculturist Ms. Sharon A. Viloria, together with local farmers, fisherfolks, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from the province participated in the National Information Caravan 2023 hosted by the Department of Agriculture (DA). The event, held in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on September 20, 2023, focused on advancing agriculture and boosting economic growth within the region.
Known as a governor of quick responses, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David immediately coordinated with the Philippine National Police – La Union Police Provincial Office to ensure peace, order, and public safety in the province following the mauling incident in Rosario, La Union.
In an effort to address the persistent food price hike, and ensure food security in the province, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), in collaboration with the regional and provincial-line offices of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Agriculture (DA), National Food Authority (NFA), Department of Social Welfare and Development DSWD), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), launched the localized “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” (KNP) sa La Union on September 18, 2023 at Old Boy Scout of the Philippines Parking Grounds in Brgy. Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union.
