Reading in a small room with a wide range of cultural, creative, and comprehensive knowledge resources can be considered one of the greatest joys in life – at least for me.

Where Light and Darkness Meet, Life is Born

Walking barefoot on the sand at midnight on December 13, 2023, Jessie Cabagbag, 41, a fisherman and a volunteer sea turtle patroller from Barangay Baroro, Bacnotan, La Union, Philippines, surveyed the solitary darkness of the coastline of Baroro in hopes of finding an adult female sea turtle crawling ashore to lay eggs. Equipped with his headlamp, a pail, and a wooden stick, Jessie Cabagbag moved forward on his journey until he spotted a direction of turtle crawls going up to the shore beyond the high tide line.

First-ever LU IPMR Abuan Takes Oath as SP Member

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), headed by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, welcomed the first-ever Provincial Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR), Hon. Joyce M. Abuan, a Kankana-ey from Cambaly, Bagulin, La Union, to the province’s legislative branch. She took her oath as a new member of the 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) on July 1, 2024 at the SP Session Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.
