Caba District Hospital Strengthens Public Awareness

NUTRITION MONTH 2019. Nutritionist Dietician Mr. Vladimir Piñon of Caba District Hospital (CDH) discusses the “Pinggang Pinoy” during the Information Dissemination Campaign at the Outpatient Department (OPD) waiting area and inpatient wards, CDH, Poblacion Sur, Caba, La Union on July 8, 2019. The said activity was participated in by the OPD patients, inpatients and watchers in celebration of Nutrition Month 2019 with the theme: Kumain Nang Wasto at Maging Aktibo, Push Natin To!

Caba District Hospital (CDH) conducted a patient-staff interactive activity and Information Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign tackling various diseases, health awareness and hospital services on July 8, 2019 at the Outpatient Department (OPD) waiting area and pediatric ward, CDH, Poblacion Sur, Caba, La Union. The activity is in line with the Department of Health (DOH) flavors of the month of July.

Nutritionist Dietician Mr. Vladimir Piñon discussed the importance of nutrition and the “Pinggang Pinoy” – a nutrition tool for preparing healthy food on a per meal basis. According to Mr. Piñon Piggang Pinoy is intended to guide meal planners in preparing food that is proportional according to current nutritional guidelines for different groups.

Nurse Francis P. Valdez tackled dengue awareness and various infection control awareness which includes proper handwashing, waste segregation and disposal and other hospital services. He also taught the “4S” in combating dengue especially this rainy season which includes search and destroy; self-protection measures; seek early consultation for fevers lasting more than 2 days; and say no to indiscriminate fogging.

The said activity was participated in by patients and watchers at the OPD waiting area and pediatric ward.

A patient-staff interaction activity was also held after the conduct of the IEC Campaign. Staff picked their patient partner and asked them questions about the topics discussed and all patients who answered the questions correctly were given mosquito repellant lotion as tokens.

Information dissemination campaign is a regular activity of the hospital to promote awareness and emphasize that prevention is better than cure and to achieve the province’s mission to be a Healthy La Union and Happy La Union by 2022.
