BFAR Recognizes La Union Fisheries Conservation

The Provincial Government of La Union and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist receive the 2018 National Awards on Gawad Pagkilala at Pasasalamat from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) for their continuous support in fisheries protection and conservation during the celebration of the 55th Fish Conservation Week on September 17, 2018 at the PCA Compound, Diliman, Quezon City
The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) were recognized for their continuous support in fisheries protection and conservation during the Gawad Pagkilala at Pasasalamat of Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) in celebration of the 55th Fish Conservation Week on September 17, 2018 at the PCA Compound, Diliman, Quezon City.
The activity with the theme, "Kapag Karagatan ng Munisipal ay Inalagaan, Sasagana ang Yamang-Dagat ng Buong Sambayanan," aims to inspire Local Government Units and other related agencies to take care of the municipal waters and the whole fishing industry.
On behalf of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel "Pacoy" R. Ortega III, OPAg Unit Head on Fisheries Leony O. Gagni and Executive Assistant II Justino F. Casuga received the plaques for PGLU and OPAg. It was awarded by Agriculture Undersecretary for Fisheries and BFAR National Director Eduardo Gongona.
PGLU and OPAG commit to continue their projects, programs and activities that are leaned towards the protection and conservation of fisheries in the province of La Union in order to attain its vision to be the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
The Fish Conservation Week is a part of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA MO) celebrated every September each year by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 316 s. 2017.
