BDH Trains San Juan’s Barangay Emergency First Responders

Emergency response trainees demonstrate their learned skills in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation during the Barangay Emergency First Responder Training at Municipal Multi-Purpose Center, San Juan, La Union on September 29 – 30, 2018. The training was conducted by Bacnotan District Hospital as part of its strategic project on the Provision of First Aid and Basic Life Support Training to residents of the Central Agri-Tourism Circuit of the province. The activity was held in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and the San Juan DRMMO.
The Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) trained more than a hundred aspiring emergency responders coming from each of the barangays of San Juan, La Union, during its Barangay Emergency First Responder Training held at the San Juan Multi-Purpose Center on September 29 – 30, 2018.
Held in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and San Juan Municipal DRRMO, the training aimed to empower the barangay volunteers to be emergency responders in the emerging tourist destinations in San Juan, known as the Surfing Capital of the north.
Trained BDH personnel together with partner agencies conducted lectures and demonstrated basic life-saving activities like traction and bandaging techniques for fractures to residents and barangay officials. Return demonstrations on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) of adult were also specifically performed. Other BDH advocacy projects were also introduced to the residents which are cigarette-smoking cessation and HIV/AIDS prevention.
The activity was in fulfillment of the BDH’s strategic project on the Provision of First Aid and Basic Life Support Training to residents of the Central Agri-Tourism Circuit of the province.
