BDH Lectures on Lung Cancer, Diabetes

LUNG CANCER, DIABETES AWARENESS CAMPAIGN. Nurses Charizza Ringor and Blesie Mayo discuss ways on how to prevent Lung Cancer and Diabetes in Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) Out Patient Department on November 13, 2020 as part of BDH’s continuing advocacy campaign on the leading causes of mortality. They mentioned the importance of healthy lifestyle in combating such diseases.

Being part of the top 10 leading causes of deaths in the Philippines, Lung Cancer and Diabetes were focused by Bacnotan District Hospital in their advocacy. Where the diseases were tackled Lung Cancer and Diabetes to the patients and watchers at the Outpatient Department on November 13, 2020.

To celebrate Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Nurse 1 Charizza Ringor discussed to the patients and their watchers signs and symptoms of the disease. She mentioned the common causes of lung cancer as cigarette smoking, second hand smoke and family history of lung cancer.

Diabetes is a condition that impairs the body’s ability to process blood sugar and when not managed, can lead to dangerous complications such as stroke and heart disease. Nurse 1 Blesie Mayo discussed the three major types of diabetes which are Type 1 Diabetes; Type 2 Diabetes; and Gestational Diabetes. She also mentioned some ways to avoid and manage diabetes.

In closing, Nurses Ringor and Mayo emphasized the importance of a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle, including proper handwashing, to maintain a sound body, avoiding such life threatening diseases.
