BDH Holds Mini-Buntis Congress 2018

The Provincial Government of La Union, through the Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) headed by Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan spearheaded a Mini-Buntis Congress on April 24, 2018. This is in partnership with Procter & Gamble Philippines (Pampers) and the Provincial Health Office.

75 expectant mothers were educated regarding pregnancy and newborn care on the said event. They were from the catchment areas of BDH which include the Municipalities of Bacnotan, San Juan, San Gabriel and San Fernando (Central Agri-Tourism Circuit).

Free pre-natal check-up and consultation by OB-Gynecologists Dr. Claire Lucina of Balaoan District Hospital and Dr. Cherry Mae Belarmino of Naguilian District Hospital were provided. 11 of those with high risk pregnancy were also provided with free ultrasound service. Procter & Gamble Philippines (Pampers) distributed free newborn care kits.

Buntis Congress is an awareness project for pregnant women to enhance their knowledge on pregnancy, newborn and child care. It aims to reduce maternal mortality and improve maternal health; reduce infant mortality; and reduce mortality among children below five years old which are part of the Universal Health Care High Impact Breakthrough or Hi5 strategy of the Department of Health in the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals and National Objectives for Health.
