Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) conducted its first bloodletting activity for the year 2021 where a total of 86 individuals participated at the BDH Annex Building on February 16, 2021 to share their blood to save other lives in need.

The four-hour activity which was spearheaded by BDH in partnership with Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center came up with 61 successful donations. BDH Chief of Hospital Dr. Zerserly D. Pagaduan, was overwhelmed by the support extended and the spirit of volunteerism shown by the different agencies and individuals to the endeavor despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic.

Aside from the BDH employees, donors from partner agencies and associations such as Philippine National Police, Philippine Navy, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Lord of Zion School, National Bureau of Investigation, Holcim Lafarge-La Union, Sorority Civic Action Group United Ilocandia Fraternity, Kabagis Guardian Brotherhood International-Bacnotan Chapter and Hemotek, participated in the activity.

The increasing number of patients needing blood dictates the need for a regular bloodletting activity. BDH has been conducting bloodletting activity quarterly.

Leaning on the combined efforts of employees and partner agencies, BDH hopes to increase donors and volunteers to ensure easier access to safe and affordable blood and blood products.
