Bacnotan District Hospital Launches Nephrology Club Program

Bacnotan District Hospital Chief, Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan welcomes dialysis patients and their relatives at the launching of the Nephrology Club Program held at the hospital on June 26, 2018. The program is a joint effort of the hospital and Hemotek Renal Center, Inc. which assists patients with kidney problems in their holistic care. This is a major step towards the achievement of the hospital’s vision of becoming a Nephrology Center by 2022.

Bacnotan District Hospital (BDH) Chief Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan, in partnership with Hemotek Renal Center, Inc. ,headed by its nephrologist, Dr. Ria Baby M. Requiero, launched its Nephrology Club Program on June 26, 2018 for National Kidney Month at BDH, La Union.

This year’s theme was Kalusugan ng Bato’y Makakamtan sa Pag-aalaga ng Kalikasan in which activities were focused on the impact of the environment on renal diseases.

The aim of this club is to facilitate patients with kidney diseases in their holistic care which is a major step towards the achievement of the hospital’s vision of becoming a Nephrology Center by 2022.

Resident Internist of Bacnotan District Hospital, Dr. Fred Allison U. Concepcion conducted lecture on kidney diseases and its prevention. This club was his initiative together with the Nephrology Committee of the hospital chaired by Dr. Ana Claire V. Pagnas, in partnership with Hemotek.

Dr. Requiero also lectured regarding nutrition of dialysis patients and they were provided with milk is a special complementary nutrition with low protein content and complete nutrients for patients with kidney diseases. They were also provided with blankets to be used during their dialysis session.

Profiling of dialysis patients was done as well as other activities like sharing of experiences and concerns, and picture-taking in a photo booth to strengthen the bond between patients, their relatives and health care providers.

Attendees of the said launching were also given copies of the Provincial Government of La Union’s official news publication, Baro a Timek ti Kapitolio, to let the patients know of the recent activities and projects of the PGLU led by Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy’ R. Ortega III, was doing for the people of La Union.

Doctors Pagaduan, Requiero and Concepcion also took the gathering to talk about the concerns of dialysis patients and issues on the public-private partnership of the province and Hemotek.
