PGLU vies for 2021 SGLG

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) convene for the CY 2021 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Coordination Meeting via video conferencing on April 27, 2021.

Ms. Agnes Grace A. Cargamento, Provincial Administrator presided over the meeting reminded Gov. Pacoyโ€™s directive โ€œIto pong efforts natin are all efforts to bring about a Transformative Governance.โ€

SGLG is now an institutionalized award, incentive, honor and recognition-based program that encourages Local Government Unitsโ€™ commitment to continuously improve their performance along various governance areas. However, due to the CoViD-19 pandemic, the SGLG Assessment activities were cancelled in 2020.

Nicolette Amon of the DILG presented the Assessment Criteria of the Provinces wherein through the Republic Act 11292 institutionalized by the SGLG, from the 7 original performance areas, namely Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity Program; Safety, Peace and Order; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environment Management; and Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts, three new performance areas were introduced, namely Programs for Sustainable Education; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; and Youth Development. Criteria in the different performance areas with its new indicators were discussed and presented during the meeting.

Ms. Michaela Louise T. Delfinado, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator presented the SGLG CY 2021 PGLU Self-assessment.

The orientation was conducted to go over with the new SGLG requirements and performance indicators and to give updates in terms of the status of assessment being conducted by the PGLU.

La Union Expands Relief Ops to MECQ Areas

The Provincial Government of La Union has expanded its COVID-19 relief operations to provide assistance to component Local Government Units (LGUs) that are recorded as high risk areas and have imposed granular lockdowns.
Gov. Pacoy ordered the expansion of the operations to benefit the other LGUs in the province that recorded spike in COVID-19 cases recently.
On April 15, the PGLU distributed a total of 10,041 relief goods for the municipalities of Agoo, Aringay, Luna,and Nagulian.
Meanwhile, the team was deployed today, April 16, to turnover additional relief packs to Naguilian, Agoo, Luna, Bangar, and Sudipen.
The PGLU turns over the relief packs to the LGUs, to be distributed to identified households affected by the strengthened quarantine protocols.
Earlier this month, the PGLU has given out 1,437 relief packs to San Gabriel, Bacnotan, Santo Tomas and Luna.
To date, there are the eight LGUs under MECQ, namely Agoo, Aringay, Luna, Naguilian, Bangar, Bauang, Tubao and the City of San Fernando.
To ensure that help is provided to those who are urgently in need, the PGLU is closely coordinating with the component LGUs to identify which areas are in need of augmentation support.

GOV. PACOY PRESIDES PROVINCIAL LOCAL AIDS COUNCIL MEETING

Gov. Francisco Emmanuel โ€œPacoyโ€ R. Ortega III presided the 2021 first quarter meeting of the Provincial Local AIDS Council, on April 15, 2021, held via teleconferencing.
As the chairperson of the council, Gov. Pacoy underscored the importance of monitoring other public health concerns, such as the Human Immunodeficiency Virus – Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), while the province continues to tackle the most impactful health crisis โ€“ the COVID-19 pandemic.
