PGLU assists LGUs in the CMCI Final Virtual Data Validation

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit (LEEIPU), continuously supports its component LGUs through participation during the final data validation held via video conferencing on July 8, 2021.

Based on the initial findings during the first validation, the LGUs need to upload more data in order to improve the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) ranking.

In partnership with DTI and DMMMSU, the PGLU headed by Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III challenged the LGUs to improve the CMCI ranking this year. As the Governor says: β€œWhat gets measured, gets done!” The validation was attended by Municipal Planning & Development Coordinators and Business Permits & Licensing Officers from the City of San Fernando and the Local Government Units in La Union. As a result, the LGUs were informed of their 2020 CMCI Rankings and were apprised of the 2021 CMCI Parameters. Mr. Keneth G. Bayani, Instructor/Researcher, DMMMSU-MLUC facilitated the data validation as he guided MPDOs/BPLOs in supplying information in the 2021 Data Capture Sheet.

The CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities in the country based on the overall competitiveness score of each participant. The CMCI Ranking is based on four criteria: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency.
