The Provincial Government of La Union through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Department of Labor & Employment โ€“ La Union Field Office (DOLE-LUFO) convened with the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University โ€“ Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU) on July 6, 2021 for a consultative meeting on the proposed creation and establishment of a school-based PESO in the University.
In attendance were Office of the Student Affair Services Head Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid; Career and Placement Service In-charge Ms. Alicia A. Cadwising; Provincial PESO Manager Ms. Charito C. Dator; PESO Labor and Employment Officer II Mr. Rowell B. Timoteo; and DOLE La Union Field Officer Ms. Veronica A. Corsino.
In the presentation of Dr. Lamadrid, he emphasized the importance of creating a school-based PESO in the campus to strengthen the graduate tracer program of the university and to help the students and graduates of the university to land a career of their choice for local and overseas employment. By establishing a PESO in the campus, the Career and Placement Service Officer can offer career guidance & counseling and conduct job fairs, recruitment activities and employability enhancement trainings for graduating students and fresh graduates.
Towards the end of the meeting, the PGLU expressed support to this project emphasizing the importance of job generation towards crisis recovery. Ms. Dator and Ms. Corsino congratulated Dr. Lamadrid and the DMMMSU-MLUC for an excellent initiative to invest in employment facilitation services through the creation of a school-based PESO in the University.
The PGLU through PESO-La Union and DOLE-LUFO is looking forward for a long-term partnership with DMMMSU in the delivery of employment programs for all kaprobinsiaan.

Governor Francisco Emmanuel โ€œPacoyโ€ R. Ortega III convenes the Provincial Core Team Against CoViD-19 (PCTAC) this morning, July 5, 2021. During the meeting, the different committees provided status updates on the CoViD-19 response of the province for June, as well as plans moving forward for July to December 2021.

PROV’L ASF TASKFORCE STRENGTHENS PREVENTIVE ACTIONS

In order to give updates on the ASF situation in our province, the Provincial African Swine Fever Task Force Meeting met on July 5, 2021 via video conferencing presided by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III and Provincial Veterinarian, Dr. Nida N. Gapuz. The said conference was attended by 33 member participants which includes department heads of different government offices in La Union. Updates on ASF situation in the Philippines, Region I and Province of La Union, activities on ASF prevention and control and moving forward activities were presented during the activity.
