The Provincial Government of La Union and its Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) recognized the 23rd Gawad Kalasag Awardees through Resolutions of Congratulations and Commendation authored by Board Member Gerard G. Ostrea, Chairperson of the Committee on Disaster Preparedness and Management and Relief Services during the 82nd Regular Session of the 23rd Sangguniang Panlalawigan on January 23, 2024 at the Speaker Pro-Tempore Francisco I. Ortega Provincial Legislative Bldg. and Session Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Heading towards transformative governance and progress, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Provincial Youth Development Office, empowers newly elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairpersons, Kagawads, and members of the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) as the PGLU continues to provide more inclusive and sustainable programs, projects, and activities for the youth of La Union last January 20, 2024 at the Thunderbird Resorts, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The Provincial Government of La Union, led by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David promptly assisted nine individuals including a six-month old and three-day old babies who were victims of the fire incident that broke out afternoon of January 18, 2024 at Baccuit Sur, Bauang, La Union.

Supporting the Province of La Union’s initiative towards rehabilitation and reintegration of Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) through Bahay Pag-asa (BPA) Project, the Regional Juvenile Justice and Welfare Committee (JJWC) has turned over to Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David their initial assistance amounting to Php 665,000.00 worth of subsidy for the said project on January 18, 2024 at the Balay Namnama, Bacnotan, La Union.

In line with the celebration of National Zero Waste Month, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) awarded the winners of the Search for the Most Eco-friendly PGLU offices during the flag-raising ceremony on January 15, 2024 recognizing the Office of Sangguniang Panlalawigan and the Office of the Provincial Vice Governor as the Most Eco-friendly PGLU Offices.

Following the fire incident in the City of San Fernando Auxiliary Market, today, January 11, 2024, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David has directed the offices of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) to convene an emergency meeting for a comprehensive post-incident report on damages and to coordinate and formulate immediate plans and action for assistance to affected market vendors and stall owners. Among the initial immediate actions taken by the PGLU were the distribution of food and lunch packs to the victims and the provision of psychological and medical assistance.

With a reinvigorated sense of public service in the new year, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David led the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) in the conduct of the First Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on January 8, 2024 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union highlighting the new year’s opportunity to further upscale the service to the people.
