ABONO Rep Ortega elected as Deputy Majority Leader

La Union’s first lady, ABONO Party-list Rep. Vini Nola A. Ortega was elected as Deputy Majority Leader on Nov. 27, 2018. Majority Floor Leader Cong. Rolando “Nonoy” G. Andaya Jr. manifested Rep. Ortega’s nomination in the plenary and it was subsequently approved by the body.
As one of the Deputy Majority Leaders in Congress, Rep. Ortega’s duties, as directed by Rep. Andaya, include directing of the deliberations on the floor in the absence of the Majority Leader, being the spokesman of the majority party in the absence of the Majority leader, and assisting the Majority Leader in all matters relevant to the Rules of the House, specifically the Calendar of Bill and Business, and preparation of Order of Business.
Rep. Ortega has consistently championed the cause of the ABONO Party-List which was founded for the benefit of the agricultural and marginalized sector. Some of its programs are focused on providing alternative livelihood programs for farmers and other sectors, support of agri-research and development, production and marketing assistance for increased crop and profit yields. With combined resources and effort, ABONO has been one of the invaluable partners of the Provincial Government of La Union in reaching a wider audience, benefiting the needy and uplifting lives of farmers throughout the province.
