PGLU Runs for Earth Day 2024; Forwards Planet vs. Plastics

In celebration of Earth Day 2024, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office organized an Earth Day Run on April 20, 2024, at Poro Point Baywalk, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Embodying the theme “Planet vs. Plastics,” the Earth Day Run addressed the effects of plastic pollution on the environment with 70 participants, aged 15-30 years old, running for the cause. Members of the Sangguniang Kabataan ng La Union and the Lupon ng mga Indibidwal na Nangangalaga ng Kalikasan, Inc. also showed their support by participating in the said activity.
Mr. Nino A. Cabero, a resident of Barangay Tanqui, City of San Fernando, La Union won the first place; Mr. Marvin M. Balanag from Barangay Sta. Rita East, Aringay, La Union, secured the second place; and Mr. Wilmer John Galvan from Brgy. Dallangayan Oeste, City of San Fernando, La Union, finished in third place. Winners received cash prizes, bamboo tumblers, and certificates as a token for participating in this event.
In Governor Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David’s message, delivered by Executive Assistant IV Justo "Tito" Orros III, she underscored the province’s call for collective action to truly attain #KalikasanNaman, "Ipakita tayo koma ti intay panagtultuloy a panag-La Union PROBINSYAnihan iti daytoy nga adbokasiya para iti lubong tayo. Alalahanin po nating lahat na iisa lang ang ating mundo, at nasa ating mga kamay ang responsibilidad upang protektahan ito."
