PGLU Elevates Child Development; Hosts 8th Provincial Convention for Child Development Workers

To ensure the holistic development and well-being of the children of La Union, 744 participants including childcare professionals, Barangay Captains, Sangguniang Bayan members, Barangay Health Workers, and stakeholders gathered at Hotel Supreme Convention Plaza, Baguio City, during the 8th Provincial Convention for La Union Service Providers and Child Development Workers on April 3-5, 2024.
The convention revolved on the theme, "Child Development Worker: Kaagapay ng Pamilya at Pamahalaan sa Pagpapatupad ng ECCD Program."ith a focus on enhancing Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) programs, Mr. Hedrich C. Calderon, Mr. Mark Allison Follosco, PEMS Arlyn A. Dampulay, and Ms. Maria Crisanta Corpuz emphasized the importance of healthcare investment, the four legacies for children and the Local Council for the Protection of Children, the role of the Makabatang Barangay Council for the Protection of Children, Advocacies on RA 9262 or Violence Against Women and Their Children, and its critical role in upholding our duties.
Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David expressed admiration to those who attended the convention because they recognized their duty to serve as instruments in cultivating the minds and abilities of the youth who will be the future of the Province of La Union. She also pointed out the importance of the engagement of different professionals which caters to the multifaceted nature of child development.
“Kahanga-hanga po ang inyong tungkulin bilang kayo po ang nagsisilbing mga instrumento sa paglinang ng kaisipan at kakayahan ng mga kabataan na silang magiging kinabukasan ng ating probinsya. This only proves that diversity of roles or even work experience underscores the multifaceted nature of child development.” said Gov. Rafy.
Gov. Rafy emphasized the province's commitment to child development, urging everyone to embrace the spirit of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan. She highlighted the importance of shaping the values and character of the youth, ensuring they grow with love, respect, care, and determination. She then reiterated that it is everyone’s collective responsibility to nurture the next generation, reinforcing the province of La Union’s vision for a brighter future.
