Showcasing maneuvering prowess and courageous stunts, riders from La Union and all over the country participated in the first-ever Ayat Motocross Cup Night Race 2024 at the La Union Convention Center Grounds, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union on March 23-24, 2024.

The two-day racing event is one of the highlights of the Ayat Fest: The 174th La Union Founding Anniversary that gathered more than 3,000 spectators. It was organized by the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the initiative of Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, together with First Gentleman and Executive Assistant V Kevin David, that aims to support the development programs of the La Union Police Provincial Office to aid KaPROBINSYAnihan in the far-flung areas of the province.

Before the race started, the riders were oriented about the safety measures that should be observed before, during, and after the race for their safety. As the program continues, Gov. Rafy paid a visit to the event area and warmly greeted the riders with a welcome message.

“Ang tagal na po ‘di ba no’ng nakakita po ulit ng ganitong klaseng event ang La Union. [Kaya] ‘wag po kayong mag-aalala, tuloy-tuloy po ito… this is just another way for us to showcase kung ano pong meron tayo dito sa minamahal nating probinsya,” Gov. Rafy said as she assured everyone that this will not be the last Ayat Motocross Cup due to its significance in tourism and fundraising.

As the excitement arose at the field, it was made even more thrilling by the celebrity guests and professional riders such as Team Motul, Kiko Matos, Pia Gabriel, Ompong Gabriel, Glenn Aguilar, Mclean Aguilar, Jolet Jao, Ted Conde, Team Perya, Iloilo Team, Rellosa Bros, Ramento Bros, 87 Racing, Magbual Racing, Kojiesan Team, and Ilocos Riders. They were part of the 350 registrants from all over the country who showed their skills on the track.

One of the riders expressed their gratitude to Gov. Rafy and the organizers for hosting the event which demonstrates their willingness to partake in #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan, “we are so glad to be here…super thankful kami na we are given this opportunity na mai-showcase ‘yung talent namin… habang nakakatulong sa La Union, sobrang fullfiling.”

The Ayat Motocross Cup for a Cause is among the numerous events conducted in celebration of La Union’s Founding Anniversary. It is through these that Gov. Rafy and the whole PGLU convey their love for La Union with the hope to aspire an even stronger unity among KaPROBINSYAnihan – realizing Ayat Fest 2024’s theme, “Celebrating Love, Celebrating yoUnity.”
