Ayat Fest Medical and Dental Mission Brings Free Healthcare to GIDA Communities in La Union

In the spirit of La Union PROBINSYAnihan, the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), under the leadership of Governor Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, conducts the Ayat Fest Medical and Dental Mission as part of the province's celebration of its 174th Founding Anniversary. As of March 8, 2024, a total of 1,561 patients were served from Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) of Bagulin, Sudipen, Tubao, Bauang, and San Gabriel.

Bringing health services nearer to the people, 2,842 laboratory services; 4,403 medical services; and 1,964 dental services were rendered for KaPROBINSYAnihan. Residents of Proper Maliclico and Duplas in Sudipen were visited in January; Cabalangayan in Bauang, as well as Libbo, Cardiz, Wallayan, and Tio-angan in Bagulin, Linapew and Halog East in Tubao, and Apayao in San Gabriel were served in February; while Alibangsay and Cambaly in Bagulin, as well as Porporiket and Bulalaan in Sudipen also benefited in March.

The Ayat Fest Medical and Dental Mission, organized by the Provincial Health Office, is a testament to the PGLU’s commitment in providing accessible healthcare to all residents, especially those in GIDA across the province.

The medical mission will run until March 31, 2024. During this period, residents of GIDA communities will receive free medical and dental services which include medical consultations for adults, pediatrics, and prenatal care; dental services such as oral health examinations and tooth extractions; and laboratory services such as random blood sugar tests, total cholesterol screenings, and urinalysis.

Gov. Rafy has openly expressed her vision of bringing government services directly to the people of La Union, making them more accessible and inclusive. Through initiatives like the Ayat Fest Medical and Dental Mission, the provincial government aims to bridge the gap in healthcare access and ensure that no kaPROBINSYAnihan is left behind.

With the La Union PROBINSYAnihan of PGLU, healthcare professionals, and volunteers, Ayat Fest Medical and Dental Mission shall leave a lasting impact on the lives of GIDA resident-beneficiaries, underscoring the the provincial government’s dedication in promoting health and well-being of every individual in La Union, regardless of their socioeconomic status or geographical location.
