As the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) embraces the month of love, Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David encouraged the employees to show their unwavering commitment to their work while inspiring others with faith, hope, and love during the first Monday flag raising ceremony of the month on February 5, 2024 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Gov. Rafy utilized the program as an avenue to welcome the new employees, recognize the hard work of the current workers, and acknowledge the brilliant display of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan through individual and collective efforts.
A total of 40 newly-appointed employees pledged their faithful performance of duties of their respective positions during the mass oath-taking. This big number of new appointments was applauded as it is a manifestation of PGLU’s sweeping changes steered toward positive reinforcement in the way the different offices do their work.
Moreover, service awards were conferred to seven retiring employees as they were recognized for their notable and significant contributions in the name of public service. Their fruitful stay in PGLU ended on a positive note as Gov. Rafy expressed her utmost gratitude for their loyalty and commitment. They were Nida B. Medriano, Prison Guard I with 31 years of service from La Union Provincial Jail; Marites M. Taopo, Supervising Administrative Officer with 38 years of service from Provincial Accounting Office; Juanito C. Andrada, Administrative Aide I with 44 years of service from Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office; Darius Leo A. Cargamento, Asst. Planning and Development Coordinator, with 35 years of service, from Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Office; and Renato F. Ganaden, Administrative Aide IV with 33 years of service, Edwin D. Accad, Administrative Aide I with 36 years of service, and Armando B. Claro, Special Agent II with 41 years of service, all from the Provincial Engineer’s Office.
Those who went above and beyond the call of duty to offer outstanding service to KaPROBINSYAnihan were also commended during the ceremony. The Gantimpala Agad Awards were granted to Mary Jane S. Balancio, Administrative Officer V from the Office of the Provincial Administrator , and Marissa D. Acosta, Librarian III from the Provincial Information Office.
Finally, as PGLU’S further demonstration of love and commitment to uplift the existing manpower, Gov. Rafy extended the news of the daily rate increase in the salary of the Contract of Service and Job Order workers. This series of developments is part of Gov. Rafy’s efforts to offer additional benefits to employees with the hope of apparent reflection on the work ethic and outputs to come. In her words, “I hope that this continues to ripple and…shake up PGLU for the better… we are only on the second month out of 12 months nitong 2024 pero I’m very happy na marami na po tayong nachecklist sa mga kailangan nating ayusin dito sa PGLU. Tuloy-tuloy lang po yan!”
Gov. Rafy concluded her message with a joyful greeting of advance Happy Valentine’s Day to all the PGLU employees. She wishes everyone a month filled with love toward each other, the workplace, the province of La Union, and all KaPROBINSYAnihan.
