La Union Pride and Longboard ace Rogelio "Jay-R" Esquivel rode the waves of victory after emerging as back-to-back champion in the Men's Longboard Category in the World Surf League (WSL) La Union International Pro at Urbiztondo Beach, San Juan, La Union. Esquivel beat Japanese surfer Kai Hamase.
The La Union native won the same category in WSL last year. He has been actively joining and winning international caliber surfing competitions that propelled him to become a remarkable surfer in the philippine surfing industry.
The Provincial Government of La Union led by Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David takes immense pride in recognizing the remarkable achievement of Esquivel that brought pride and honor to the whole country and the province. His triumph stands as a testament of the exceptional and world-class surfing skill of local surfers in the province that dominates the global stage.
